Looking for any motorcycle types that know anything about the fuel injection on the "Big Bikes", what models have it ( Honda, Suzuki, Harley, Kawasaki, ect.
Am wondering if the EFI systems on these bikes might not be a lot more simple than the auto types and maybe adaptable to our use. Tony |

Adaptable maybe, but you will probably need a way to re map the fuel computers. and ignition curves.

Hey Scott
Thanks for the reply, would you have any suggestions as to a manual for study of diagriams and schematics? Am hoping that the mo;torcycle EFI will have a lot less "inputs" and maybe therefor be easier to modify or reprogram. I think that due to the way the ECU and other components must withstand the elements and vibrations that these systems must be of excellent quality and design. Tony |

It all depends on how many cylinders you have. All the EFI bikes can be remapped for what ever you want to achieve. The top motorcycle dyno shops can do it. Some better dealers can even do basic reprogramming. I'm trying to get the pics up of my new ride before I announce what it is. It does have EFI.

Thanks Cody
Will probably be talking to you a lot if I try something on this line. If it's practical, would like to try something like this on a Sub- EA-81. Tony |

Still wondering when someone who has this bad alternative engine streak in them will forget about all these odd ball engines and go for a Four stroke PWC engine.....
The engine in my Kawasaki is a 4 cylinder, 125 hp 1200cc engine, max rpm is 7 thousand, it is reasonably light, strong, made for hard use, FUEL INJECTED, and a entire ski brand new could be bought for around 7500$.... used ones probably a few thousand less.... wrecked hull ones probably only 2-3 grand tops. All the other PWC manufactors have four stroke engines in their PWC's today. All are fuel injected.

Hi Neil
Is that system multi port or throttle body and do they have a web site, I could not find one. Also would you have any idea of price? Tony |

Ron
Wouldn't a PWC engine still be an alternative engine??? Tony |

Tony, it is..... but it is a engine that is common, and parts are off the shelf at your closest PWC dealer. These are proven engines, and made for severe duty.
I see the stuff you and Brent post about and I wonder how long these engines will hold up long term and where you would get parts too. Some of the engines posted cost more than a Rotax 912 too.... I just figure the cheapest way to get affordable, lightweight, and durable, four stroke engines for our purposes is to look at these PWC engines....

Some of the new polaris 4 stroke snowmobiles have been used in 24 hour endurance races, and finished I might add.

The prolem with most Jap bikes is the tranny is an integral part of the the engine. I can get just about any M/C engine you want. Or whole bike for that matter. We have a couple of monster M/C salvage yards close by.
Tony, I don't much, but I do know experts. A case of not what you know but who you know.

Ron I like the new PWC motors. But the case is not easy to mount a box on. I don't have them near me to go look at and see what motor would be best. You have one so look at it and see if you think a drive can be made to fit.

Brent, I think with these engines a belt reduction may be the best option.
Also these boats are filled up with engine, in other words you pop off the seat to look inside and the engine dominates the engine area.... it is hard to really look at the engines to see how you could hook up a gearbox to them. The yamaha revs too fast and is too small in displacement imho... The honda is a nice option, along with the kawasaki, both operate in or under 7 thousand rpms. the seadoos Rotax is another good choice and maybe the best as it is the only one that has a self contained cooling system.... I thought all of them were closed loop cooling, but in fact all of them are raw water cooled except the Rotax.
