Default More questions than answers!

Hello Jeremy,

The Ivo ultralight propeller is very light and may have an acceptable moment of inertia.

It is my observation that not every Propeller Speed Reduction Unit has moment of inertia limitations.

I would wait to hear from the PSRU manufacturer, probably the same as the engine manufacture.

The adjustable feature of the Ivo propeller makes it very easy to adjust because you simply adjust it until it does what you want without any protractors involved.

You can also convert a three blade Ivo to a two blade easily if you want to experiment further.

Propellers are very confusing, I know people who have studied them for years and they still marvel at each new propeller they touch.

There is controversy over chord, twist, size and even the shape of the tips. In other words more questions than answers.

In racing if we wanted to win we would copy what was winning and try to improve on it.

If we were more interested in experimenting we would go off in another direction and sometimes after great pain and a lot of hard work we would have success and everyone would copy us, usually unsuccessfully because they did not understand the why of it.

Congratulations on trying to understand the why.

All the best on your gyroplane adventure, Vance

Jeremy,

You you really want to learn all about propellers, you should read a wonderfully detailed and definitive book from a good friend of mine, Jack Norris titled: "PROPELLERS - The First and Final Explanation."

I totally enjoyed reading Jack's book since I often sit and visit with Jack to converse with him on various scientific and engineering subjects. I even recommend that Juergen, Doug, and Chuck purchase this book since I know they will enjoy reading it too.

When you open the following link, make sure to read Jack's biography - you will be impressed.
