Ron, like I said - I don't want to make any recommendations here because I am not an engine expert. When gyro industry gurus give their clear and loud endorsement for this engine right here, who am I to say otherwise? I guess it's all a matter of perspective. I am judging this engine against industry standards such as the Rotax 912 (FI and carbed) and the traditional aircraft engines where reliability and redundancy (and simplicity, where possible) is the name of the game. The Viking electrical schematic is posted on their website and I reviewed is carefully. I didn't like it. It looks amateur to me. I could design my own electrical system for my own aircraft in place of the factory harness but what really worries me is, if the only thing I know something about looks amateur, then how do I know the stuff I can't see or understand is not crap? One more time - I am not an engine expert and this is just my opinion. I want to fly over areas where an engine out may be a big problem, and perhaps with passengers that I really care about, so I take engine reliability very seriously.

That was one concern.... what about the others, such as the redrive and then company reputation?

I had heard something about Egenfeller and a Subaru project not going well?

Yeah, I heard the same thing too. I think if you go over to the RV forum you can learn more about this individual.
