Hello, my name is Casper Just.

I'm planning to take my CPL in New Zealand.
To make sure this is the right place I need some information
about job prospects for an unexperienced helicopter pilot.

I've talk to various flight schools in New Zealand - but
they all seem to paint a to glamorous picture.
- So i thought it would be more usefull to talk to a pilot.

- so my question is; do any of you know an active
comercial helicopter pilot working in New Zealand?

Thank you very much in advance
- Casper Just

Gidday Casper,
these are just a few thoughts off the top of my head. I may be wrong, but I'm told that NZ has the most Helicopters per capita in the world. We have a number of very good flight schools. The Govt. funds training through the student loan scheme. As far as I know there is an oversupply of helicopter CPL's. Getting a job is a matter of experience, and hours, as most employment situations are. Most of the newly trained CPL's I know of go overseas to get time and experience. Such as mustering in Aussi, logging in New Guinea, of fish spotting on large fishing boats. So without knowing more about your circumstances, I would think that your employment prospects are low.
