That's a simple rudder turn. Just slow way down and apply full ruder. Nothing special about it. It's an exercise that pretty much every student will do in their carreer.

Heck, that's nothing for a gyro. As long as the pilot knows what he's doing and the limits of himself and the gyro.

I was doing those out at Mentone in the Monarch. First time for me but pretty easy. I did them in both directions. Fun.

...it is just stick turn. The guy in the right seat first applies left stick and then a little back stick. He only balances the turn with the rudder.

I believe the guy was moments away from death and gone way beyond what the gyro can safely do. He should stop doing such dangerous stunts for fear of giving Gyroplanes a bad name.
That student and instructor should be band and that video deleted from YouTube. |

Methinks about a 1110 degree turn and a recover of 30 degrees. ![]() Cheers

that's nothing but a simple rudder turn. Easy to do, both for pilot and gyro!
Stick back to near-to-zero airspeed, which leads to vertical descent (vertical autorotation), and push left rudder (as clearly seen on the video). Careful not to pull stick to far back to keep a little airspeed and thus to prevent reverse air flow on the rudder. And careful to stop this spin high enough to regain airspeed! |
