Does anyone have any experience of mounting a Leica ALS60 on a Gyro? This is an airborne laser scanner, and I am looking in the the possibility of using a Gyro as the airborne platform. Any information or experiences very welcome.
Many thanks, Andy.

I have had some experience using LIDAR on ground robots.
There are more errors introduced the further away you are from the target.

Here is a link that has been helpful to others for airborne units.

I hope it helps!!

Andy,

Why ALS60? I've just mounted a dual Trimble 680i setup. With all singing and dancing 2 LiDAR heads, plus airborne processor, I came in under 80kg's. Glancing over the Leica specsheet, it's a brute of a system. I would say you need to go much more compact on a gyro.
