Hi Folks,
Recently becoming a empty nester personal pipedreams can now maybe become a reality. I always thought a gyro copter would be a great bush machine here in Kodiak with our always blowing winds and rugged terrain. I see some are advertised for rough cow pasture landings and I assume takeoffs too but if I got one it would never see a runway and a rough cow pasture would be as nice as it would get. I would need it to land on beaches, riverbanks, and tundra ridges most of the time in squirrley winds of +20 knots. Is that a possibility with these machines or should I keep it a pipe dream?? I am enjoying reading all the stuff on your forum, I didnt know gyrocopters had gotten so popular! Rick |

Landing is rarely the problem. It's getting out again. There are many, many places that you can put a gyro down that won't offer much hope of a good takeoff/climbout, because of obstructions, terrain, and so forth.

waiting for the day that a simple jump-take-off system becomes available. then your dream (and mine) will be do-able!

Rick,
Welcome to the forum! There are many choices nowadays for a good gyroplane. Finding one that can do what you need it to won't be a problem. Call us at Sport Copter and we'll send you some information and a DVD about our machines. 503-543-7000 Good luck! Jon PS don't forget training. You might need to travel to find a CFI so be prepared for that. We offer training seasonally to customers. We also offer introductory flights to anyone so that you can get a better idea of how these things fly!

Thanks guys! Nice to find this place.
LOL Jon, I have already used up a bunch of my 9 lives(been a fisherman since the mid70's) so I wouldnt think of not getting the training. I have been drooling over your machines(I also think you get what you pay for)but I am gonna have to figure a way for it to pay for itself. I am going to be down in Oregon next winter for a couple of months and was already planning on stopping by and getting a test flight, who knows will maybe have a barn burner season(been a while) and have 20k burning a hole in my pocket. Can you put oversize tires on them, ie the tundra tires on cubs? Rick Last edited by tungulara; 10-20-2012 at 08:58 PM. |
