Default grounded still and again

I'm still grounded because i bought radio from AutoGyro and it comes with connectors on the eiring harness that only fits helmets sold by them. Beware! these are not any kind of standard. I assumed I could buy an adapter to GA or helicopter but no it requires custom built. AutoGyro USA is making adapters for me. This is something to consider if buy radio installed from AutoGyro.

I did ground handling today since I couldn't use my radio to coordinate with traffic and discovered my engine will not accelerate beyond 4000 rpm! I won't be able to fly it because of that also. Maybe this was a bad idea. I like to turn the key and go, not fix my screwups and wondering what will go wrong next! At least I have good support from AutoGyro helping me get it figured out. Jamie and Craig are helping too.

Don...
Congrarts on the solo sign-off (and thanks Desmon for being there). Keep us posted on the engine problem.

I was notified last Monday by Terri from AutoGyroUSA that my MTO Sport is ready for shipping from Germany...was not to even go into production until later this month. Now I need to scramble on how to get the kit to the Houston area.

"Been there - done that - got the Tshirt!!!"

I've had OZ'rora "airworthy" ??? - 6 months already - my flying skills had to catch-up - then work through radio issues, engine issues, sub-par ignorant/misguided newbie builder do-overs & now a nosewheel shimmy & broken windshield to replace ...... SURE we'd all like to build , turn key & go fly.... it's just not the nature of the "experimental aviation" beast.

I've had to adjust my mindset several times to continue to enjoy the journey & all the educational experiences - the wonderful helpful people one meets & interacts with along the way have made it worthwhile many times over!

At every frustration, road block - new hiccup on this gyro-journey passion-- I have to keep looking at the mandatory sticker on the side of my gyro & saying to myself this ISN'T a jump-in-and -GO experience .... education & recreation!

Hopefully ONE DAY SOON the fates will smile on me & say "you've paid your dues ... go enjoy the flying now!!!!"

Even with a high$ high tech, OS certified, factory kit-build there WILL be teething issues & you have good people & a company network to support you - appreciate THAT it is worth a LOT!!!
- not just a one man outfit that may or not chose/be able to reply to emails & phone at the moment one needs info!!!

Craig McPherson is going to come by and look at it for me. He is the new North Texas AutoGyro Dealer and very helpful.

The man that brought mine will bring it in an enclosed trailer. I showed him what the unpacked kit consisted of so he knows. It would be a good idea to go there and do a complete inventory first to get the missing and incorrect parts on their way to you.

pardon phone typing

God bless you! I can't tell you how much this means to me this morning. I need to enjoy the journey and the wonderful people I meet along the way. I learn a lot from the ignorant, liars, and cheats as well. It's GOOD

Take it slow Jake. No such thing as turn key and go in Experimental AB world.

Chris you can build the gyro, work on all the bits that go wrong, get it flying, learn how to fly gyros, get the licence, fly your gyro, and still keep running into things that keep you grounded. But then life does tend to be a little like that.

Luckily I am an optimist, with a great support network lots of determination, drive & energy & now I've had a taste of my lifetime dream to be up with the birds ... in Birdy's parlance - from here on "I'd be a miserable ground maggot!"

Have it shipped directly to the port of Huston.

Then have the port send it directly to your hangar but don't look for the driver to be very helpful at all. They're not required to do any un-loading and are always in a big hurry to get out of there. One method I used once with an imported Eastern European FW LSA was to have a local Tow Truck company send out a flat bed tow truck to the airport. We pushed the aircraft out of the shipping container straight onto the truck bed and then lowered it by ramp to exactly where we needed it.

I asked that once and again just 10 minutes ago. I was told that they wait until they have several orders ready and then stuff them into the same ocean container to minimize shipping cost and once sealed in Germany, it will not be reopened until it arrives in the US for customs. Would have been nice though.
