Steve, thank you.

BTW: Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary are members of NATO
for over 20 years !!
(if you wish to use this criteria.)
This is really high time to wake up and understand, how the world
around you really looks like.

You must understand that these backward colonials come from what was originally established as a penal colony by James Oglethorpe:

Oh dear - you need to come out of your stupor. "Western European" was not defined by being a member of NATO - Sweden, Finland, Switzerland even good old France were not members of NATO. But Canada was - is Canada part of Western Europe.

""Did you realize that we used to consider half of GERMANY and EASTERN EUROPEAN nation? All true. Now that Germany is a whole again, it is all western.""

Those of us who live in Europe do have an understanding of recent 20th C history.

""Hungary was definitely part of the USSR at one time, and I am afraid that my generation will never see it as Central, although that is technically correct and the news orgs are now referring to these countries that way""

Hungary was never a part of the USSR ( Union of Soviet Socialist States ) neither was Poland, nor Czechoslovakia, nor Romania or Bulgaria. These countries were members of the Warsaw Pact. Political freedom was snatched away after 1945 but the locals resisted. Many Hungarians were killed in the 1956 Budapest uprising against the Soviet regime. The Czechs also rose up in 1968. The Poles had an uprising in Poznan and then a long and eventually successful labour orientated uprising through Solidarity. Very dangerous and very tense - thankfully Mr Gorbachov was rather more liberal than his predecessors.

Thank you Steve! Wow...........I would have cut my wrists if I had to be considered part of the Soviet union.
ps: Greg you need a little reading on history. The AK 47 was introduced during the 56 revolution by the Soviets by using them on Hungarians with great success.....so this its a bit deeper than just misplacing who was what back than. I'd rather you called my mother a hooker than me a Soviet!

Hello,

I'm currently reading a book by Bill Bryson: "Made in America", describing, how the American English language evolved. Accompanied by a very detailed look at the American history and how all these things like the Declaration of Independence and Constitution came about. Not always exactly as straightforward as in the history books, it is really a great read, and yes, James is in it as well.

When the Iron Curtain was down, East Germany was a stranger place to me than Spain or Tunesia. And from our point of view even the language wasn't right.

By the way, Bill Bryson writes in a delightful and witty fashion, I often burst out laughing, alienating my surroundings. If you like Science, look at "A short history of nearly everything". You will love it. How all those scientific discoveries were made, lost, ridiculed, copied etc. Just fun to read and very educational in an easy way.

Kai.

Thanks, Steve, for putting this straight. Being Austrian, I initially thought it quaint to be confused with Australia. After a while it dawned on me that quite a large number of people in the US had no clue what and where Austria is.

I come from a part of Austria that belonged to Hungary and became part of Austria only in 1921. I don't expect anyone to be aware of these "intricacies" but a bit of awareness going beyond the rim of one's plate is always appreciated.

When I was in Europe, Kai, a co-worker from the US state of Maine, of French/Quebec ancestry, frequently let it be known that of all the foreign countries he’d visited, England was the most foreign.

Except for the funny money at the time, I didn’t find that true at all. They “overcooked” their vegetables just like we from the Deep South always have.

I know a bloke in the US who sent a rotor head to Austria by UPS, it spent a sometime in Australia before being tracked down, located and sent on to Austria.

Can I ask why put out a model with an engine that is not being recommended by the people manufacturing or selling them for anything more than 80 hrs per year? It seems to me due to the nature of the beast, two place machines tend to do more hrs than single place.....just wondering.

All I know is that when I flew the border back in the 80s the people on the other side were pointing guns at me. If it bugs you sorry, you'll just have to get over it.And no, I don't care where Finland lies geographically they never pointed guns at me. As for what you want to call the USA - I really don't care - I doubt there is ANYTHING you could say that would shock me. We are without a doubt the MOST hated nation on the planet and we're quite used to it. So YEAH I DO consider Hungary Eastern Europe and if that makes me a dinosaur then so be it. I have NEVER been politically correct and I have no intentions of ever starting.

""All I know is that when I flew the border back in the 80s the people on the other side were pointing guns at me""

The same happen when the "other side" flew along the very same border - those were tense times.

"We are without a doubt the MOST hated nation on the planet""

Can you see a possibly linkage there?

Remember we all share this planet so best to get along.

It will be interesting to get feedback how its flying qualities compare with MTO, ELA, Magni. Lots of threads on the forum comparing the three. I wonder which the Apollo is most like…the MTO? Differences...what and why?

I just sent a note to Abid.
