Very moving. What if he had fallen in love with a Bensen 50 years ago? Could have modified one possibly to work around his abilities.
Definitely belongs in a corner of an aviation museum with the video playing.

I wish we could bring him and his helicopter to the USA to one of out fly-ins. I'd love to get him some dual in an R22.
I'll bet some reality TV show could pull this off in a heart beat.

What a tribute to the human spirit. Humbles me for how many times I've quit.

A very fitting story and a good analogy for what it takes to become a Gyroplane Pilot. While there may be some that have the time and the financial resources to pull it off and just happen to live close geographiclly to a Gyro CFI, for most of us the journey to becoming a Gyro Pilot entails many challenges along the way and it is my opinion that to become a Gyro Pilot the most important factor is you have to want it really bad! It has got to become a burning desire that you are willing to make sacrifices for and take however much time it takes and somehow find a way to come up with the funds that will be required and just keep going until you finally reach your goal. The people that I have seen accomplish it have all paid a major price. And all of them will tell you it is worth every bit of trouble they went through to get there.

I don't know Tom,------- when I was maybe 10 or 11 in my mind I could fly a P-51 or a Spitfire or even a Sopwith Camel. All I needed was 2 or 3 hours of training (in my mind).
I think if I had been allow to have even set in one of these planes at that time it would have totally shattered my grand dream, sometimes imagination and dreaming are the "better reality" Tony |
