Default Chapter 18 well represented at Mentone

I just received my Chapter 18 monthly newsletter....and without asking Tom Milton....I am stealing a tidbit he posted in it.....thank you Tom!

He listed 27 members from Chapter 18 that were at Mentone. That is a very impressive turnout in my opinion. Thanks to the other 26 members that made Mentone that much better.

You could move back to a civilized part of the country.

Must you be so rustic?

I want to move to Arizona with BEN but the wife's stupid family is here and she won't move.
And imagine all the trouble we would get into Tommy.

Default Gotta be fair...

Well of course Chapter 18 would have a good turn out!! You guys live there!! ;-)
How could members not show up when the event is in their own back yard!

But seriously, I do realize all the work that is put upon #18 because of this very fact.

Thank you and congrats to all! Your work is much appreciated!

Our Minnesota chapter 17 is small but growing stronger all the time! We only had 2 members there this year. (Hopefully more next year)

We need a formula to better define a club's participation at Mentone (or any event)

Such as:
# of active members in chapter divided by members in attendance at event multiplied be the distance traveled.

I applaud the our Chapter for its turnout numbers and especially the handful of guys that came out to help get the convention grounds more in order. That said I would like to see more than just my gyroplane from Ch. 18 attend the convention too! We have some really special birds in the hangars and some great pilots that we should share with the community... Thanks again to all that came out and keep em coming back!

According to google maps KIGQ to C92 its only 94.7 miles! Not sure what way you go but somehow you add 25 miles!

Don't forget Valpo! However, not sure they meet requirements for a recognized chapter though... same with the Flying 80's outta my airport KOXI.. wonder if they still exist? They would be closer if that was the case.

Hope it was not taken as a shot at our chapter just a challenge to get more midwest chapters involved in the national level! Per capita we lack may lack a representation in terms of machines, however, we do get the award for most members attending I am sure and that counts for alot.

None of the above listed people live at the Lansing airport. We are all from the greater Chicago area, thus, Chicago and the other metro areas were used for comparison.

The flying 80s disbanded some time ago, they met first at Valpo, and then moved to Knox, and now they are gone.

We're hoping to have 5 or 6 fly down next year. Been throwing it around the hanger already. Am putting a set of air command aux. tanks on my bird 'rudy' that I happened to find at Mentone this year. Should be able to do a non-stop from Lansing..Can't wait...
