I was wondering are there alot of female gyro pilots? My wife is interested in flying, and I thought it would be good for her to talk to some.

Becomming a Gyro pilot would make your wife part of a very elite and small group. I hope she will decide to make it bigger.

Don't forget Britta Penca; don't think she's on the forum but she's been flying for a long time and I believe she's now working on getting her CFI rating.

Let’s not forget Britta. Oops, I see she has already been mentioned.
There is also a lady who flies a Magni whose name I cannot remember. The 99s are an organization of women flyers and many operate on a very high level. They are mostly fixed wing pilots. I can't think of a thing about flying a gyroplane that requires a man’s strength. A respect for things mechanical would be helpful but not necessary as long as someone looked over the machine. Ed does not want to learn to fly because she says it is too much work and she likes her role taking pictures. There are bound to be detractors, I feel most pilots would be supportive. When I taught motorcycle road racing women were often my best student’s because it seemed they did not need to show me how fast they were. They were more inclined to listen and try what I showed them. I wish her all the best. Thank you, Vance

The 99s were so-named because, at the time, there were only 99 known female pilots in the world. Britta commented a couple years ago that if there were a similar organization formed today for female gyroplane pilots, it would probably be called "The 21s."

Sorry, but I'm just wondering - does it really make a lot of sense to talk to other female pilots before starting her own training? If we really wish to fly these machines, we will fly them regardless of what other people are saying...
