Default I DO NOT deserve it!

So........ I decide to peruse the forum to see whats new, and I catch something out of the corner of my eye....
A new banner ad at the top of the page....Did I see what I thought I saw??...
My name??? What the?????

Much thanks to all the hard workers that did so much to make the 50th such a wonderful event!
But...I feel that I did not contribute much at all, but rather I just enjoyed all the hard work of others.

Granted, I was willing, and wanted to make my (very) little contribution, but it never really came through...

During one of the board meetings on Friday, apparently the topic of my machine came up. Tim O'Connor came out to visit me where I was working on my machine by my trailer. He asked me to join them for a bit.

They asked 2 things of me...
1) To move my machine out from the camping area and place it in a move visible area to be viewed by everyone, and..
2) If I would be willing to give a presentation about the build of my machine.

Now, I'm not a real good public speaker and I wasn't really prepared for this. But, I did have my machine there....And, I had a bunch of the build pictures with me...And, I had all my cad drawings that I could display on the projector.
So, why not, and I agreed that I would put something together.

Safari Helicopters was going to give a presentation on Saturday, but they were unable to make the event, and this is the spot Tim was hoping I could fill.

Well, for some reason I had it stuck in my head that the presentation was at 2:00PM (I don't know where I came up with that...)
So here I was around noon on Saturday, arranging some photos and such to get ready for my little "talk".
I decided to take a break for lunch and I headed over to the canteen to get something to eat and saw the event schedule..... Oh Crap! It was supposed to be from 9:00 - 10:00 AM!!!
But wait a minute...It still says "Safari Helicopters"! Nobody would have known about it anyhow!... Whew!!

And, even if I would have put on a presentation....This would pale in comparison to the work and effort that so many others contributed to the event!

I would like to add my personal THANK YOU to my fellow Chapter 17 Member Paul Minear.
He spent almost everyday helping the Air Boss down on the flight line staying on top of the signal flags and also helping Steve M with refueling operations and what not...

I am totally grateful and so flattered for the 2 awards that I won! What a wonderful way to be welcomed into your group!
My wife was giving me a hard time saying that my swollen head barley fit in the truck on the way home!!

So again, Thank you.....But my name does not belong on the marquee!

All in all, my little missed presentation was the only "hiccup" I noticed in an otherwise flawless event!

Thanks again everybody!

Denis

Denis,

You very much deserve the thank you.

You moved your machine to display and enhance the convention and were almost always around to cheerfully explain and teach people about your creation.

You agreed to do the presentation even, if it did not work out as expected.

You did all of this for the good of the event with no complaints or expectations of returns.

Furthermore, you are a good example of pitching in and helping when and how it was needed with no complaints and no drama.

That is a very good thing and more than others have managed.

Thank you!

.

Default I feel you deserve the recognition.

Hello Dennis,

Meeting you and examining your machine was one of my PRA Convention Mentone highpoints.

I was disappointed that I didn’t hear your presentation.

Your machine is an inspiration and you passion for gyroplanes a delight.

I hope you find everything you are looking for.

Thank you for enhancing my PRA Convention Mentone adventure.

Thank you, Vance

Gabor,
I was very honored to receive both "Most Innovative" and "Best Workmanship".
I'm thinking that a lot of pictures and all the other award winner info is being saved for the next E-Zine which I think will be out shortly... I don't want to be the spoiler.
Thanks again everyone!
Denis

Denis, my opinion, the fact that you think you do not deserve it may just lead credence to the fact that you do.

Denis- You were very much deserving of both receiving the Most Innovative and Best Workmanship awards. Every few years a piece of work comes along that is exceptional and this year it was yours. Your gyro showed a very high level of innovation and supeerb workmanship. Kudos to Chris, Farmer Jimm and Greg Mitchell for seeing this as they decided . Stan
