Hey Gab apparently the Oz girls beat the girls from Hungary in Bejing for Bronze in 2008, same just now in London, 2012. Guess we'll have to have a drink to celebrate two great nations and their hard fought battles. Final score 13-11. in O/T. The third O/T the OZ girls have played in the last three games. Close very close.
See Ya soon.

Hey FJ and Chris,

Hope all was well when you got home. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you good folk and even though Jim drank all my grog and coffee, I figure it evened up when I smoked all his cigarettes. Menthol....seriously Jimbo you need to harden up ole mate, they wont let you in to the country if you put that down on the paper work.
Chris you got that fella sorted out proper like and you are a joy to be around. Hope you guys do retire to OZ, then I'll get to see ya sooner than later. I feel like we lived a year in four days, pretty intense ha.!
Till next time Ozzie Chris and Farmer Jim.

Default Atlanta Georgia to Winterhaven Florida.

This morning we left Mariet (sp?) in Georgia and were meant to skirt the city of Atlanta on the way south on Hwy 75. As Miss Garmin would have it we enmded up in the City. Right in the middle of it.

One of the things I observed about US cities is it feels like you can find yourself smack bang in the middle of them and even in peak hour, find your way out in a short time. Try doing that in Sydney or Melbourne Australia. What I'm trying to say is it seems like even though the US might think it is gridlocked and getting hard to get around in traffic, the Oz experience at least for me seems far more trying.

Used to work for the Sheraton for a lot of years, security human resources and training, hence the pic of that. Atlantaq was foggy and sometimes drizzly as we made our way thru the city and on towards Macon. We bypasased the city this time round and found lots of agriculture and more open country south of Macon. Peaches and Pecans seemed to be the main fare, along with Peanuts.

As we crossed the Floridian/Georgian state line the country changed quickly, the humidity and weather followed suite. We changed our plans and instead of heading to Tampa, we locked in a RV Park neare LeggoLand for young Jake. So Saturday will be a day for Jake to indulge his hobby of Leggo construction, there may be a coaaster ride or two for Danielle to get into.

Sunday/Monday we will head furtrher south to the Everglades.

Must say, Florida so far seems very familiar, parts of it remind us of Northern NSW, Queensland and even the3 retirement areas of Mandurah south of Perth in Western Australia.

Loving ever mile and ever minute of this great land.

Default More from Georgia/Florida

20 odd miles of road construction and pumping concrete onto a bridge overpass, seems to be plenty of work going on.

Gab, met a young bloke at mentone (Rudy) he taught me a little 'Spanglish'..LOL!
I'll ring you as we get closer. Cheers Bloke.

Man, I am absolutely shagged!
Big day for my kids at Legoland and then we drove till 1/2, 6 tonight to Fort Pierce RV Park.
Observations...Florida has places that remind me of many places around OZ. Mandurah, south of Perth WA, retirement area, canal estates. Parts of QLD cause of the weather and various species of palms including the foxtail palm which I thougth was specific to the Daintree and grown as a boutique plant around the tropics and sub tropics of OZ.
As we travelled south from Winterhaven, on the Florida Turnpike to Fort Pierce, the cattle in the long grass, some cross breeds of Brahman remind me very much of lots of areas of the Northern Territory. Infact, I expected to see gyros mustering cattle everywhere. Of course the long horns reminded me of an old John Wayne movie or two.

The heat today was intense, the humidity stiffling....I used to thrive in such climates, now I just fade away...FAST!

Got an email tonight from Dwayne, the bloke we met on the Yellowstone River, I shot these and a bunch more on his camera for him and he sent a few thru to us. Top Bloke and as I commented to him, its folks like him that have made our time in the US and Canada a magical experience.
