Default Insurance on gyros

I receintly ran into a problem with an airport where I rent a hanger. They wanted to see proff of insurance on my Junk Yard dog gyro. I told them insurance was imposible to obtain on such a machine. I have proposed a self insurance agreement with the airport and have not heard back what the airport authority will do.When you think about it, if I do property damage or personal injury to someone, I am responsible with or without insurance. If I can prove assets up to the limits of coverage they expect and pledge them accoringly, what is the problem.
Does anyone have a similiar issue or experience in this matter? I would appreciate any experienced comments and how you handled it.

Default An unusual insurance person.

I have the same challenge with some of the air shows.

At Rotors over the Rockies I met the head of Prime Insurance Syndicate Inc.

(800)456-4576

www.primeis.com

He will work to meet the minimums and had what I felt were reasonable rates for liability.

Thank you, Vance

Larry, what Vance said. I don't know why people say nobody will write a gyro.

Prime Insurance can help anyone needing liability for a gyro as part of a hangar lease. A million-dollar policy, if I recall correctly, was about $60/month, and they'll work with you on even lower rates if you can handle a higher deductible.

Rick's webcast presentation on the URA Webmeeting Channel is posted in video format here. The sound's a little rough, because he was out of town on a cellphone the day of the presentation, but see if it answers your questions.
