I went for a night flight on the 4th with my wife. This is some of what I shot.

I had the same thought!! ... in my dreams .... no PPL no night equiped gyro!

I did the same thing last year with my beautiful wife Laurie over the Salt Lake Valley (except no video). It was cool to see the fireworks looking down with the city "under" them.
