Default KeroCooked Hot Dogs at Mentone

Last fall I flew to Chicago to our Chapter 18 club fly-in. While there I tried cooking a hot dog off my turbine exhaust. It cooked very nicely...crisp on the outside....depends how close you hold it to the 600 degree idling exhaust plume. It was delicious and now I am going to have a KeroCooked hot dog session at Mentone. It will be a limited cooking session...I will supply 10 hotdogs and buns until they are gone....dog gone I should say.

If there is interest here...I would like to have some t-shirts printed up with a mean faced turbine with a hot exhaust cooking a hot dog. I will sell these at cost to anyone interested that has eatin one of these hotdogs. Again, probably will limit this to 10.....so anyone interested...sign up and give my your t-shirt size.

The hot dogs do not have any funny taste at all,....and are very delicous. We all cook off of LP exhaust in our gas grills anyway.....

My turbine is extremely quiet while flying...but standing right at the exhaust...there is a high pitched whine as the turbine is idling at 48000 rpm. I would suggest foam ear plugs for comfort.

Let me know!

Stan

Stan,
That sounds like a great idea. But, I would be concerned about exhaust chemicals and carbons be ingested in my system if I ate one.

600 Degree air (sorta') cooked!
Gives new perspective to 'fast food'...Heli or turbo-weiners.
I've cooked chili on the exhaust header of a car, but this is interesting.

Hope to see it. Does the turbo use unleaded kerosene ?

Stan,
That comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek. Seriously I think a neat idea.
If I make it I'll contribute some Guinness-marinated brats! I guess I need to bring 20 gal of Aero-Kero also???
(Cant seem to find an applicable emoticon).

Have a good one.

Default Cooking Idea

Hey Stan,
I have a Cajun/Redneck brother-in-law who has come up with a brilliant way to cook the whole package of hot dogs at once. Maybe you can use this for your Heli-Hots.

Heres a video of myself cooking a hotdog at our Chapter 18 fly-in. Even if you dont like hot dogs...there were plenty of onlookers!

I have no real data but I would think it would be just as clean or cleaner than a kerosene heater flame.

I would think that keeping it downstream but still in the heat it would be ok, ESP if you wipe off the surface with a paper towel...
