Thanks Farmer Jim, it's been a crazy year so far......hoping the 2nd half works out better! Shaping up nicely I think. :-)

John- Looks like you have a nicely built gyro, and you will have a ball with it. Looking forward to seeing some flying posts.

John,

That is exciting news. Congratulations!!! I think the longer it takes and the more challenges you have to overcome along the way, the sweeter the victory is when you finally get it done. I'm sure you are having a hard time sleeping at night right now with all the built up anticipation. Just take it slow and easy and make sure you do it safely and enjoy the heck out of the next couple of months. Are you planning to bring it to Menone in August? I hope so, I woudl love to see it.

Hi Doug,

That was definitely the plan originally, but I don't see a way to make it happen....I have to get it to Texas, get it signed-off, and fly off the hours before I can leave the area. It will be several weeks before I can get it to Texas to get the process started. Furthermore, a trip of that magnitude is not prudent until I build up more time in the ship.

And I am not going to trailer it...I think the best I can hope for is to fly to Anahuac near Houston in September...that should be no problem. (*should*...stay back, Murphy!)

Since neither of you are going to make it to Mentone this year. I think you ought to plan to meet up at Rotors Over the Rockies 2013. We have one other Aurora out here and I might even have mine Flying by then so there could be a whole (what do you call it? flock? flight? Gaggle?) of Butterflies. I just know if would be fun to get together with a bunch of them. Why don't you both put in on your calendars and lets see what we can do?

I'd tentatively be up for that...would love to fly in the Rockies.

And I think it'd be called a "swarm"...maybe.

Chris: Yeah, it was a nice idea....maybe if Mentone were a month later...Dusty took most of the winter off from building. Otherwise, he would have been at this stage about 2 months ago.

Chris,
You and Jim should plan on Anahuac (just east of Houston), maybe it will be more in your range for this year.

Thumbs up Sounds like a plan!!!

Great idea Doug - that would be fun - a swarm of Butterflies @ ROTR 2013!
Maybe by then we will have figured out how to trailer both of ours together & have Tiggy-B there also!
Your SSC @ flying stage will be awesome!! I was drooling over Larry's last week & sat in it - he's got it all cleaned up & getting ready to test fly - lots of bells & whistles, cool instruments!!!

Let's plan on it! I will see if we can't get Larry to send out an announcement to all of his Butterfly Owners letting them know we are attempting to organize a "Butterfly Swarm" in the Rockies next year. This will give everyone enough time to put it on their calendars and plan around it so that hopefully we could have a large group all show up to fly together. What a great idea! Stay tuned for more info.

This is a bitter sweet pill for me.

Firstly I am so glad for you John and having your project/dream back on track.

Love the fact that another woman, Lady in Chris, is getting airborne in gyros especially a Butterfly.

And FJ, with his hard slog to get TiggyB Up and at Em!

BUT..... to not be meeting you all and seeing the Butterfly swarm at Mentone this year does sadden me somewhat.

I hope you all have a safe and fun time getting finished and airbourne and hope to catchup someday when Butterflies swarm elsewhere.

All the best.

Mitch

Hey Chris,

I was confused, I thought I'd seen you sign up for a forum?
Excellent news. Been looking forward to this.

Doug,
I thought you were still going to make it. It is just around the corner now.
Have a great time at ROTR 2012.

See you soon.

Mitch
