Tom, rest up and catch your breath in the larger sense. The sport needs you!

Tom is out of the hospital and home. He said he has a lot of items to get done and orders waiting. So it might be a while till he has enough time to post here.

I'm really glad he's feeling better.

Once again, thank you all.

I had a more lengthy reply ready to post but touched some "magic Key" on my son's laptop the other night and it went somewhere.

My leg problem was 2 years ago and I fully recovered from that bout with cellulitis.

This time, long road trips appear to have formed some blood clots (DVT) in my left leg that went un-noticed until they launched into my lungs on Sunday.

I guess I won the blood clot lottery. These nasty collections can easily kill a normal human being.

Somehow I had no pain (abnormal human being?) but was suddenly, very short of breath. I had no difficulty moving air, but was unable to get it to my blood supply as necessary, as both lungs had received clots.
It was a very strange sensation I have felt once before, when I was struck down by Blast furnace gas (CO2) poisoning in the early seventies. (US Steel, South Works, Chicago, IL.)

Amazing how the body works, it needs the right stuff, in reasonable quantities, to run properly.

I was released from the hospital last night with an arm load of meds. I will be on light duty until the clots dissolve, but that "light duty" includes getting out your orders on Monday. My blood oxygen level is good, at rest, walking, about 50%.
expect your orders to be 50% correct, instead of the usual 60%.

I had a young, visiting nurse named Jennifer come by the house today to check and help adjust, the blood thinner medication levels. My wife stayed home from work for some reason. (I guess she figures my 50% might be good enough for something?)

My Barb has been by my side through every step of this ordeal and been a real support system.

I want to thank each and every one of my gyro family members for their well wishes. I do what I do because of you all and my love of the sport.
Outside of family, gyro people and gyros have been my life for the last 35 years.

And Now For Something Completely Different.

On the heels of my glowing FAA report comes a chilling NTSB report, and it's not the one regarding EAB accidents. This might be real trouble. I will post it in the Regulations thread.

Thanks again, Tom

Tom, I envy your zombie-like ability to survive a shot (OK, a clot) that would kill a human.

But, seriously, take care of yourself and feel well.

I guess we're all engines. You were running lean!

Tom, do whatever you need to do to get your EGTs back in the green. You'll be in our prayers.
