I have been told that helicopter time is what counts most. Who did you have an interview with, and how did it go. Please give as much detail as possible.

Insurance companies want time in type, failing that they want something in the same class - that drives a lot of hiring minimums.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I finally achieved my life long goal of becoming a professional pilot. I just finished my training to fly helicopters offshore in the gulf of mexico for RLC. I will start my first shift on May 17th.

Congratulations !

My son is a mechanic for RLC, he is currently based at the Mouton Cove heliport in Louisiana (nearer Abbeville, near Lafayette)

Speaking of magic move ups. I certified a Rotorway Exec for a guy that soloed an R-22, he was a fixed wing AG pilot and needed work in the off season. He got hired on and flies a Sikorsky Skycrane water bomber on his meager R22 time. He did do some co-pilot time in the S64..

Outstanding work Dave, I loved your videos, some very professional displays of flying there.

Does this mean that your cycle made it to 1500 hours?.. How did the t62 fair during that time? Eagle's website estimates an engine replacement at 750 hours and a total airframe overhaul at 1500...

Im also forced to ask what will become of your machine now that you will be flying at a commercial level? (golden, lazer-protected shrine perhaps?, sell to me perhaps? lol..)

annnnnnnd one thing Im sure you already know, but I have to say it anyway, is now that youre flying in the GOM, make sure you know when to say NO to a flight!.. some crazy stories about unexpected IMC come from there..

Currently have 1200hrs on the helicycle, and don't have any current plans to sell it, but If I do, I will post it here first. So far the Turbine is doing perfect. Once I get caught up on a few things, I may send it of and have it reconditioned. If I do that, it will probably last the life of the machine. And you are right about having to learn to say NO to certain flights. Tom, what is your sons name, as I am sure I will get to meet him. I was suppose to be stationed in Mouton Cove, but at the last minute got assigned to Creole, which is about 50 miles west of Mouton Cove.

Hi laflyboy or anyone that may know.
What web site did you record the problems you had while building your time.
Congratulations on the job.
