Paul...I can't relate to those colored dots, but...just today, as I was preflighting I looked at those mounts and thought, they need to be replaced ...soon.

So...I need the info as to the Part No. and where to obtain?!...In the USA, Paul.

Cheers

Question

I wonder if anyone knows what the Durometer(sp) or "hardness" of the engine mounts should be for this application. If I remember correctly they were the same as the ones supplied by Rotax service centers for the 582 and 618.

I need to order 50 of them to get a reasonable price, so I want to make sure I get the correct ones!!!!

Aussie Paul.

Harry,
Any half-way decent aviation parts house can get Lord mounts. You just need to know which ones.

Second from the top is CB 220112 with the yellow and white dots.

Attached is the list that is availible.

I can supply the CB 220112 for AUD$31.00 plus postage.

I got to looking at those part numbers today and I have a question.

Why can't we use, or, what is wrong with using any of those other 4 numbers there, that have the same dimensions?!

Is neoprene better than natural rubber, in this application?! Engineers?

Cheers

Harry the Duro column figure is the Durometer Hardness. Too hard and vibrations are transmitted, too soft and they bottom out causing vibration to to be transmitted as well as wrecking the suspension material.

I to am interested in the difference between natural rubber and the neoprene. The neoprene is black the same as the rubber.

I have ordered 50 and can change some over to the neoprene ones if I feel I need to after flight testing.

All Raf owners should check the size of the fender washers at the bottom of the mounts. At some time Raf supplied too larger fender washers as I posted with some pics a few weeks ago. After several minutes of flying a vibration was coming through the machine as the mounts "gave" a little under the thrust pressure and the fender washer tough the engine cradle.

The one I borrowed from Birdy was like that.

As a matter of interest the Raf "magic" bush is of 50 Durometer hardness.

Aussie Paul.

Harry,
I believe Spruce and Wicks both sell Lord mounts. I know there are some good shops around Ocala. At least there were before the last dozen hurricanes.

It's determined by the maximum axial load,,,, spring weight. Here's a couple of links to some of the selection criteria. These are industrial mounts.

Paul, you probably should run through a few of the calculations.
