Question what's the skinny on the pitbull

I am a new member and have great intrest in getting started in the realm of rotory wing flying. The pitbull looks simple to build and to fly, but have heard nothing about if this is true. I have heard nothing at all.
Is the thing garbage, or just over shadowed by the buzz of the little wing? Why arnt there any posts or conversasions or performance reports on this thing. The only reason I ask Is I don't have the time money or desire to build the littlewing and what is reported on the pitbull site of being completed in a couple of nites sounds good to get started. so really what is the truth, good or bad, about the pitbull.

If you click on the Tractor Designs group title, you will see a listing of past threads - several of which deal with the Pitbull.

There used to be a person on the forum, goes by the name of bpool, I think, that had a Pitbull and lilked it but only after he did some serious mods, also just about anythng that you can "just add water and stir" is going to be of a skeptical nature.

C.A.

There are very few, if any, flying. One of my friends owned one, it won an award for best of show at Mentone. He had a million hours in it, and it never left the runway.

It was sold to another individual, who ended up crashing it on one of his taxi runs. A member of our club now owns it, but it still isn't flying.

My instructor has had one for about 6 or 7 years now, and I believe it's still not flying.

They definitely are not snap together kits, and there's very little support out there for them.

As a newbee, buy yourself an Air Command, which basically bolts together. You could probably have one finished in a week, if you are at all mechanically inclined. Or buy an Ultrawhite from Ernie, completely assembled. There are other kits out there if you want to spend more money.

What ever you do, pick a mainstream machine, or you may never achieve your dream of flying a gyro. We have two members in our club who bought non-mainstream machines, and after over a year, neither one is flying yet. One is still being totally re-designed to fix all the flaws, and the other one was sold, the owner was so frustrated with it. The club member who sold his is now flying the machine he replaced his with.

If there's anyone around you flying gyros, check theirs out. Attend a few fly-ins, and look at all the different machines out there.

Above all, spend some money on a few demo flights to make sure you really want to fly a gyro. We have a number of members in our club who bought machines first, took lessons second, and are not flying.

Not trying to discourage you, just lead you in the right direction. Good luck with your quest. Gyro flying is some of the best fun you can have!

Mark is giving you very good info. Gyro flying isn't like anything you have done to date. There are a hundred things that are different. Rotor management in the most important. It can damage your machine and even kill you if not done right. You will not solo at 3-5 hours believe me. Just check it out and see if this is what you REALLY want to do.

C.A. First off Welcome to the best thing since sliced bread, Gyro flying, dont let the BLING BLING fool you.
Get a couple rides,check-out your choices, ride in that model, try others, read, read, and read more.
It is the most fun I've had as an adultchild, and it has made up for all the toys I never got as a kid.
