Do I detect that your opinion of the gyroplane has changed somewhat since your earlier posts?

I think that well designed single seat gyro is an efficient enough aircraft which can be used for fun; but when i hear of a fun machine (sport motorcycle, sport car, fun aircraft...) i am on my guard because after a while, you get bored with your fun machine and to have fun you make stunts, especially in front of a crowd or a camera, and very likely to crash...(we have many occurences with very experienced gyro pilots showing off at low altitude with a single efficient gyro: a quick turn with a final wind in his back...lost of lift...no injuries but a hard contact with the planet and a blades salad, if very lucky...). To fly a single gyro you'd better be a well behaved person; may be this gyro is a good substitute for sex after...a certain age.


What I need is a reliable (not too much servicing-repairing), safe (no endless stability questioning), utility (two seats with a survival kit), VSTOL (no or very cheap real estate investment), cross-country (good cruiser and almost as economical as an airplane) aircraft with a heated cabin (Canada weather).

The double seat gyros I saw and tested are clumsy of all, noisy, runway eaters, grumpy and inefficient aircrafts…

Dick Degraw showed to us what could be an efficient gyro: the BIRD! (90MpH on a stock ea82…). So a somehow motorized rotor…

Martin Hollman said that we need, to have a very safe gyro, to have the control of the AoA of the blades through an offset hinged head…

All that seems to be the definition of a compound helicopter… May be the AVIAN or the personal aircraft of Mr Piazeki: the H16… but for homebuilding, may be something which looks like a Barnett J4B2 with a somewhat motorized helicopter rotor could be OK!… but I don’t have the tools and abilities to develop and built one… Anyway we are very close of the helicopter… May be the SAFARI with a tandem seating and an horizontal Subaru engine is more reachable with less R&D… And if we look at helicopter, may be for efficiency, we’d better look at synchropters: two AW95 tied together with a synchronic cog belt?...
