just stopped in to post a picture of my Little Wing. I am building a 5th wheel trailer to haul it and live in at the fly-ins. Just getting started so it is not real impressive at this stage but imagine a 18'x8' living area on the front portion of the trailer (including the overhead) with a small bedroom and full bath on the overhead and a full kitchen along the front wall on the bottom portion with "barn doors" that allow the tail section of the gyro to ride inside the living quarters and a "full" overhead roof over the rear of the trailer to protect the plane while trailering and a 6' ramp gate. similar to picture number 2 only in a 5th wheel trailer. I am sure i will have it ready by May for our chapter 38 club fly-in

Quite amazing how you build a trailer as another project in parallel to your gyro...;-)
PS: Keep my fingers crossed for you, this world needs more tractors!

I don't have all that much left to do to the gyro. Finish wiring the instrument panel and re-install the engine again ( i have removed the engine so may times i lost count) and wire it up and fire it up, tweak it and then final paint it, take it to the airport and put the rotor mast on and final assemble it and she is ready for inspection and flight testing. (baby step flight testing naturally). I cant finish it at home as i dont have a tall enough garag door to final assemble and get it out so i was forced to build a trailer now anyway.
There are about 3 or 4 others i know of that are building littlewings using the yamaha engine so there are more to look forward to. Thanks for your comments Juergen! Tim |

Thanks Dick, I am looking forward to re-joining the group out there as soon as i get her to the point that i need to take her to the airport. With no heat in that little hanger i have i am content to stay at home and do what i can here until warmer weather sets in!
Building this trailer outside right now is a no go with 2 feet of snow on the gfround and 25 degrees outside! you guys in warmer climates dont know how we envy you, but then again we dont get wiped out by hurricanes up here! Tim |

Make sure you post pics of your trailer as it progresses too.

Hi guys,
been awhile since i posted any progress on my gyro. Here are Youtube videos of my engine installation and it running a little. I have not worked on my trailer for a long time as i have been busy with my little wing project! That's next! On the 14:56 video at the end i was explaining the "throttle position sensor" wiring but youtube has a 15 minute limit so it got cut off. The wiring i found that worked to bypass that connection was two- single wire connectors, one white and one black, (the black has a black/yellow wire) i connected those two and that bypassed the sensor and they are both on the engine wire harness. i left a huge amount of the wire harness on the garage floor having cut away what was not needed like thumb warmer wires, lights, signals and a bunch of other that i traced by using the 620 page online manual wiring diagrams. That was money well spent! Tim little wing autogyro Colorado engine install 1.wmv - YouTube little wing autogyro Colorado with Yamaha engine - YouTube Last edited by mercert; 04-22-2012 at 02:35 PM. Thanks Cobus,
Are you going to be home for the May 19th fly-in at meadowlake? I will have it there on static display as my registration is in progress and it won't be inspected and ready to fly yet. I am looking forward to talking with you sometime about the Phenix. Take Care Tim |

Well,
Finally have the Little Wing painted and ready to show it off! I am waiting for the clutch to be finished and as soon as it is i can start testing the engine for issues and tweak it. This picture is from this past weeknd at Colorado Springs for our PRA chapter 38 fly-in. Now on to the trailer (aircraft hauler/ fifth wheel camping combo)! Thanks John!
It is not a show plane by any means but it does look good i think! i am not finished with the painting, i am going to add some more black accents. Mike, I fully understand now why Ron has sold over 600 sets of plans but yet there are only a few flying. They are a ton of work to build. I am retired and have spent the last 2 1/2 years (about 2500 hours building this.) It is not technically difficult to do but you do have to be a fabricator and it was a big help that i am a retired mechanical designer and have a boatload of engineering project managment and fabricating experience in sheetmetal, welded frameworks and mechanical parts design and plastics design and fabrication. This was my first experience with fabric covering which was intimidating at first but once i got into it that was a non issue. I hope to be flying it before Mentone. Tim |
