Default SC questions

I was just wondering how often "used" Sport Copters come available? I like them a lot, especially the Vortex. I most enjoyed watching one fly at Benson days.

I was also wondering what the best way to trailer one short distances (1/2hr or less) would be? Is it possible to keep the main rotor on while in an enclosed trailer or on an open trailer?

Is there a 2 seat Vortex available? I don't think I have seen them but as I'm just learning I thought I would ask. The website doesn't show any currently as available models. Just their new SC2 at around 90k which is to pricey for me.

Paul

Paul,
There is not very many of SC's used machines that come up for sale. When they do, they are usually in the 20k+ price range. I don't believe they make a 2 place vortex.
You would have to call them, but I think most, if not all of parts are ready to bolt together when you get the kit.
The rotor is easy to put on and take off. I think the recommended method is to remove the rotor before transport. I have seen some people trailer their gyro with the rotor on but they have to build a special trailer for it.

Paul, I've seen used Vortex's sometimes sell for as low as $15,000. I think that's the cheapest I've seen them. That's not very often.

Paul,
There was a Vortex with a 912 for 36K, on Barn's. But the listing expired or was removed last week... Also a Lightning Kit was listed in Portland OR. for 12K.
I believe (Skier) posted it in the For Sale section.

My cousin got his Vortex in Oregon four months ago for $12,000.00 with out a rotor. Had a 618 in it, what a deal!

There used to be one pictured on the website, but none were ever sold to the public. The one that does exist was built as a trainer for Sport Copter customers, and it now has over a thousand hours on it. I got 15 hours in that machine, and it's a ball to fly. It might be worth calling Sport Copter to see if there's any further thought on making an open tandem available.

We have knocked the price down on kits. I think they are now $19,995 for the Vortex. Plus your engine and prop. The kits are mostly complete. Meaning, most parts are powder coated, anodized, or in some way finished.

Won't hurt to call and request a quote ...That doesn't cost you anything.

I think that a tandem will be a big seller when they come out with one. That is what I want and I know that I am not the only one! It is good to hear they are working on it
