Default Help

I know this sounds silly but it's been driving me crazy. Is there a way to mark threads and individual replys in a thread, as read? I have searched the FAQs and all over and can find no way to do it. The result is that I find myself re-reading a thread or through a thread just to get to get to a reply that I have not yet read.

Also, is there some way to mark or separate the threads that I am most interested in so that I don't have to search around to find them each time I enter the forum?

Finally, and this one has me tearing my hair out, what does IMHO or IMO stand for? I am usually pretty good with acronyms, but this one has me stumped. Since I am a newbie to gyros, I'm guessing it is something pretty specific to this sport.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on these sleep depriving questions!

In My Honest Opinion
In My Opinion

Don't know about the thread thing, When I re-open the site all unread or newly added to threads are highlited, and read threads are not.

When you "put your two cents in," and it's only a "penny for your thoughts"?
Where's that extra penny go?

Kurt,

When you log in to the forum, tick the box that says 'remember me'.
Don't log out every time you leave the forum, and the previously read threads shouldn't come up unless someone has posted another reply on them.

Thanks, Phil. I knew it had to be something obvious.

Gyromike:

I have never logged out (I don't think b/c the website remembers me when I return), but I'll be sure to check it. Maybe there are just so many new posts I can't keep up with them. I don't know, but it's been driving me crazy having to re-read a bunch of stuff I already read to wade through to what I haven't read. I'll try as you suggest and see if it helps. Thanks a lot for the help.

Kurt, alot of us, when we come onto this forum, simply click the " New Posts " icon at the top of the page and scroll around and pick the threads they want to read. Others researching info may go to specific threads, sometimes older threads looking around for info.

I almost always just click on " new posts " and browse through the posts people made since the last time I was online. I am on here often enough to remember the threads as they grow from the last time I was online....

Kurt: I second what Ron just said....plus if you click on "quick links" and then click "Mark forums read"...it will not post them again. Its like starting with a new blank piece of paper. Say that you just clicked that....then went to new posts....there wont be any to read until someone post something. That may be the next 10 seconds...or 2 hours.

When you go back to a long thread, click on "View first Unread" It takes you to where you last left off.

Ron, Stan, and Tom, thanks for the new tips. I will try them all. I know I will eventually get it worked out. Stan, I knew I saw the words "mark forums read" somewhere, I just couldn't locate them... even by doing a search nothing came up. Still love that SH.

Look at the top right of the page for "Quick Links" on the menu bar. Click on it.
Then scroll down to "mark forums read."
