pins and needles

WOW Stan you certainly made me blush. I really don't deserve praising for my actions. It was simply the action of a very desperate man who had the responsibility to give better to the next generation than what he had. The very exact reason I ended up here. And Scott is right I had never taken a penny from the American people. I was offered welfare for 6 months after we got here due to my political refugee status, but when I went to the office to take care of our SS card I told them I have been given already what I needed. The opportunity. The guy looked at me like if I were completely out of it. But I explained him with my limited English that I was very grateful just for the chance I got from the American people and I wasn't going to outlive their kindness and hospitality. Guys like Stan, Bud, Scott, Russ and so on could see in me the drive and the pride that would have never allowed me to take someone's and would never take anything for granted. Jay finds this hysterical. I am glad he had a good sleep not being aware of what is actually going on around him. He will be the first to cry about the consequences of this bill when it gets implemented. Trust me I know the kind. And then we have Karl the clueless that comes in here and without having dealt a hand he increases the bet? He has the audacity of telling us Americans what to do! Wow. Karl just go away and fix your country and don't spread the wealth of idiocy you gather in your skull. What do you fly? What are you building? Don't tell us how to live our lives. In order to do that you'd have to show equal or better. Hmmmmm let me guess. You can't! We really don't need your negative and thoughtless hate spewing in here. Just go away please. There are actual gyro topics so live the domestic politics to the grownups. I appreciate it. Back to the topics. Jay you'd be emotional too if you had to earn your citizenship, and not just inherit it by the virtue f being born here. So please allow me to be emotional. I am getting defeated in my quest providing better for the next generation than what I had. And I am starting to feel as this was all done for nothing. The last bastion of freedom and high quality of life (even the friggin German provocateur) envies and trying so hard to break our way of life because he will never experience it and he knows it. Must be killing him haahahaa. So for once Jay please get your ADD under control and don't say things that are going to come back and bite you in the butt. No one is safe here. This is going to come back and hunt you! Don't celebrate just yet cause it ain't over! The war has not been lost. We are not angry anymore. We are determined. To go against the will of the people had served no one ever! It was always only matter of time when the people paid back. And that will be a bitch! It will. :)

I'm pleased to say my rep and senators were voting no, even the Democrat. I contacted them with my support for their positions.

Ron, this is a flying community, and this is an off-topic forum. For me, part of the purpose of any online community is to get to know the people, and people generally are not one-dimensional.

The forum's not about motorcycle racing either, but I've enjoyed getting to know that side of you!

Like I said, I could care less if we were talking about porn and quoting truely tasteless jokes here. Todd made the rule and I stepped up to help him enforce them.

Guess it could be getting a little warm, and Ron is advising us that some things are know to be contentious.

Too hot and it will probably have to stop.

You guys can huff and puff, argue till your blue in the face, I don't have to waste my breath, my side prevailed, thats all I care about.

That statement says it all Jay. That's all you care about..... Sad sad sad person you must be....

Hey Gabor! Did you go to High School?
Jay is doing the gloat (sp) thing . . .
My side won . . . but I think he knows that saying be carefull what you wish for . . .
This is just another democratic hicup trying to better a system, they may be wrong no matter who is on their side.
But you can vote that plan out latter on can´t you?
Heron

Heron you got it. The very mature response of the Nanana boo boo just surfaced. Wow. Impressive. His vote is worth exactly the same as mine! We are in trouble.....

Here is one to chew on.....since everything is a "right"

The shocking truth about a fundamental right being denied to 55% of citizensM Allen Fritsch

There is a fundamental right being denied 55% of all Americans. This denial costs over 16,000 lives per year, meaning more than 44 of our fellow Americans will die every day that we delay. What should be done in light of these shocking figures?
Using the example set by President Obama and the Congressional Democrats, there is only one answer: Universal Gun Care for every American. Surely a right outlined in the Bill of Rights (2d Amendment) is just as important as a right NOT found the Constitution (Health Care).

Bonus, it should be easier to implement. After all, gun dealers and manufacturers are ready and willing to help solve the problem. Unlike the evil insurance companies, gun dealers don't want to take your weapon away from you when you most need it. Nor will they deny selling you a weapon simply because you haven't purchased one in the past (i.e. a pre-existing condition).

• Conventional estimates state that 45% of all US households own a firearm. This leaves at least 55% of all Americans "uncovered."
• In 2008 there were 16,272 murders in the USA. How many of those could have been prevented if the victims had been able to protect themselves?

My proposal is a modest one:

• Mandate for every American to purchase a gun or be provided one by their employer (children under the age of 26 can share a weapon with their parents)
• Tax credits to offset the cost of purchase (for those making less than $250,000 per year and everyone in Nebraska)
• For those that can't afford it, a grant or subsidy to purchase a weapon (union members can get two weapons subsidized before 2018)
• Funding for a series of community based gun dealers/clinics and firing ranges (especially in under-served urban and rural areas)
• Monthly ammunition benefit so that no one has to choose between feeding their kids, paying the rent, or buying a box of .38 special cartridges

Contact your representative today. The time to act is now.

Karl, your generalization is preposterous, you should be ashamed of yourself.
All, could you maybe stick to the topic (is that an oxymoron in the "off-topic" section?) and not call whole groups or countries inapt or stupid?

It ought to be part of democratic culture to allow other opinions.

As to the subject:
In Germany we have a gov. regulated general health insurance for all, which covers only basic needs. Additonally there is the option to top off with additional private insurance or go completely private. That step is one way, the only way to get back into state health insurance is by having no income for a long time.
While this system leaves lots still to be desired, it at least does not leave too many people on the wayside and it offers choice.
While the interest groups paint a bleak picture of state health systems, there is also the other side on the private system, documented in the movie Sicko.
And regarding the daily, gratis visit to the doctor:
We had that here, but now there is an entrance fee, so it is cheaper to buy the magazines than read them in the waiting room.

Kai.

The affect of this weekend bill passing has already started to be felt at work. The union that did the pep rallys, flyers and union support for Obama are pissed this morning. Turns out Obama did'nt keep certain promises and an up coming vote within our state will cut into the unions pocket. I sat back, listened and smiled just alittle.....they are so mad that he lied. Who'd thunk.

"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it."
We are there!

Jay isn't concerned with the repercussions. He's old and will most likely be dead and gone by the time a lot of the changes happen.

I think we have played well, together in this matter, thanks Ron.

How this hope and change working out for you?

Not quite everyone played well JR, but I took care of that problem. Karl was spouting a bunch of anti-Semitic, racist talk so I removed his posts and the direct responses to them and banned Karl. This is a Forum for the whole world to access and all are welcome regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, whatever...

Todd wanted everyone to lay off the political posts because it almost invariably turns ugly. We'll let it go on as long as it remains civil, but if it starts getting ugly again we'll shut it down.

I had'nt even noticed Mike...thats quicks man. See ya @BD.
