Do politicions ever get sick??
Or do they just pat they're foot in bathroom stalls..:sorry:

Here you go, page 425 of the health care bill.
Old people need to die to save the Gov money.
http://www.lifenews.com/bio2895.html

That is pretty disturbing.

I actually come down more on the liberal side of end-of-life issues, but the government actually recommending this stuff is wrong.

I guess that's one way to save costs as the baby boomers get old.

As old as I am I sometimes forget how much money I would save everyone if I would just kill myself.

When they started social security people would die shortly after they retire. Now with the great health care we have people are living a lot longer and this costs the system money for people who are no longer paying taxes.

I can see where reducing the quality of the health care and reminding people to kill themselves would save a lot of money and get rid of non productive people.

I asked what was going to make it less expensive and I can see where this is an effective strategy that goes beyond just saving money on healthcare. Think of the housing this frees up. Think of how much sooner they would collect the death tax.

I look forward to my first counseling.

I wonder if the counselor will get a bonus for each person they successfully talk into killing themselves.

Thank you, Vance

Oregon and Washington both have physician assitted suicide.
My Father was terminally ill, (87) the last year of his life was so miserable, all he talked about was why God would not take him (devote christian) but he could not take his own life because he beiieved in doing so he would go to hell.So sad.

Hmm. I've been a christian for years and never heard any teaching that taking my life would send me to hell.

Not following you.

Tough stuff Jay. We each must do what we feel called to do. Your father made a choice to hang on in spite of the pain. Honor him in that.

Sixth Commandment says, Thou shalt not commit murder. But God's Grace, as shown in His only begotten Son, is given while we yet and always will fall short of God's Glory.

For the believer, our short-comings are covered, our souls secured, as our past is burned away at passing.

I can take my own life; murder myself as a believer. But I might better choose to stay the course, pain and all, as it is my choice to do. All things are acceptable, but some things are not edifying.

Let's see: I could, in my waning years, attempt to swim to Hawaii; attempt to sail around the World single-handed; spend the day crossing I-5 on foot; or go on an ice-cream and tylenol diet; . . . or, I can stay and see it through as God has provided, pain and all, because I like seeing my son.

It's tough duty, but someone's gotta do it.

Terry, I'm glad that you are here. You say the things that I want to say , but I have neither the eloquence or vocabulary to relay them nearly as well as you do.

Too bad some of the politicians don't take advantage of it......

Thank you

Thanks Dale.

Tim is correct, it will not send one to hell. Nothing sends a man to hell, because, as eternal beings, we all are hell bound anyway, lest we accept God's hand of mercy as He alone has extended it.

I would question whether Jay's father thought killing himself would actually send him to Hell, or, would simply disappoint his God.

I'm glad that I DON'T worry about it, much. I am too young. If U get the Sand.... Out of Washington, U all might have a chance. Why don't all of U creat a new insurance co. Called We The People, I would join. Think about it + Why can't U??

This entire bill misses the point. Our medical rates would be able to go down (we'd have to force the companies, of course) if the price of medical malpractice insurance would go down, medical malpractice insurance would go down if people were not encouraged by demagogues to believe that doctors are infallible, and if we did not live in a society where people believe, and are told, that lawsuits are the best and easiest (and most acceptable) way to get more money. Cut down on idiotic lawsuits where someone demands 8 figures (and "settles" for 7) for being "traumatized" by some minor, effectless error on the doctor's part. Peolpe taking responsibility and understanding that Life Happens will start us on the way to cheaper healthcare, and more reasonable prices in almost every sphere of life.
Here's the first step. Either you can A) bitch & moan about all the tests the doctor reccomends in order to line his pockets with extra fees, or B) You can blame him if you get sick and he didn't catch it early. NOT both.

Mostly because we have already established the insurance company our Founders envisioned, "We the people . . ." under the Constitution. And the Constitution calls for the providing for the common defense, and the promoting of the general welfare. It does not call for the promotion of the common defense and the providing of the general welfare. It is not a call to covet one's neighbor's possessions in communistic endeavor.

Tax-free private savings accounts for medical purposes and insurance for catastrophic procedures would be a better fix. Take the money we are already paying for our health insurance and stick it into a savings account. If someone is currently paying $500 a month for their insurance that's $6,000 per year that would go into their medical savings account to pay for regular doctor visits, etc. If we only purchased catastrophic medical insurance to cover hospital stays and expensive procedures the premiums would go way down. If someone goes to the doctor for a regular checkup they pay cash out of their pocket/medical savings account. Since people would be paying for regular visits and low cost procedures themselves, they could shop around to find the best prices. This would create competition and keep the prices down. If doctor A charged $500 for a procedure and doctor B charged $400 for the same procedure more people would go to doctor B. If doctor A wanted more business he'd have to lower his price closer to doctor B's. I've only had to see a doctor once or twice for minor things over the past 10 years. Think of how much money I'd have saved up in a medical savings account over this time.

Edit: I hadn't read John's post above before I posted my post. I said basically the same thing he did. Sorry, John.

Right on Tim, just read this!!!
Your right, write your congress it can't hurt!

...Why don't all of U creat a new insurance co. Called We The People, I would join. Think about it + Why can't U??
I have though about it, a great deal.
I've written congress until my hand is bleeding...

The model I created is just the way I or any accountant would solve the medical insurance problem if the entire US was my gigantic holding company made up of all the businesses in the US and would provide the lowest costs and the greatest wealth for our employees.
Most of the countries of the world have switched to capitalism. But all the world governments seen stuck on only thinking of socialistic solutions/programs as government solutions. This is so foolish, capitalism was won the debate but they can't seem to make the change in thinking of a business solution for their programs even in the US, this is sad to me.

It would take me 5 years of 10 to 20 hour days at least. I'm semi retired, life is good and, at this point in my life, I don't want to trade my free time with family and friends for money or the joy of building a new business either.

My handle is like a warning too. I'm All IN in whatever I do, it would consume me 7 days a week until it was running itself and I love it, but my kids and grand kids would hate me or least not know me for the next 5 years.

To me, money is not worth that much anymore, but free time is.

However there is still hope, once congress screws it up and forces everyone to have medical insurance it should be easy to out compete them and I'll take the time to write a short business plan and send it to all the best investment houses/brokers and show them a way they could generate huge medical savings accounts that they could then use to lend or invest.

PS:
Write your congressmen, give them a clue, please!

The doctors and insurance companies have brought alot of this onto themselves.
Have you read a bill from a procedure? Try getting a clearly written bill....!
Having assisted my mother through her later years and having a few injuries myself, the system is corrupt!
I recently spent over an hour trying to get pricing for a shot procedure in my knee.
They could not come up with a price. They wanted me to provide their billing code numbers to them. What a hoax! Worse then dealing with a used car salesman for pricing games. (Let me apologize to all used car saleman for linking them to medical billing theives.)
They mark things up 300 to 400%. Bill me what you take from the insurance company, not some jacked up unaffordable wet dream.
This floating price system is unfair and should be illegal.
They prosecute people for marking up generators, gas and chainsaws during hurricanes, yet if you are injured and need assistance now you are going to be billed 4 fold of what an insurance provider has to pay, and they call that a negotiated price.
(As if you have many options to shop around while having a car accident or heart attack)
Our system is corrupt and until everyone pays the same price, you'll need an insurance company to protect you and your family from price gouging in a medical emergency.
