When you hit quote it grabs everything.

Drag and cut out what you dont want to show. Anyting between [QUOuTE=reelmule;255231] and [/QUOTE] will be quoted.

So just keep the first brackets and the brackets at the end and it will show up as a quote..... example, Im just copying and pasting the same start bracket and end bracket around what I just wrote....

Try it. (the reason it quotes you is because I copied it and pasted it exactly. If I wanted to remove your name I would just use the bracketed "quote"and the end bracketed "quote" with the little/in front of it which tells the computer thats where it ends.

When I answer a post sentence by sentence, I first press the quote-button, then always put

[quoxte]
...my comment...
[/quoxte]

(without the X) between the sentences. That splits it up nicely

Kai.

How do you start a new thread with a quote from a different thread?

How do you pull quotes from several different quotes in a thread?

Is there a way to spell check?

Thank you, Vance

He already answers how to do partial quotes as do I (more complexly).

How do you pull quotes from several different quotes in a thread?

Just put cut and paste what you want between [/quoxte] (without the x) and [/quoxte] and it shows up the way you want.

How do you start a new thread with a quote from a different thread?

When I want to take from other threads I open a second window, and cut and paste between the two.

Is there a way to spell check?

Spell check is automatic when I write anything, which makes me believe its a switch setting in the set up preferences area.

Thanks for all the help. I need to practice some of this and review my Vidio Professor's DVD's on Window Basics, eg, cut and paste!!

Thank you Robert,

How do you cut and paste from a post?

I can highlight it but it doesn’t seem to capture it.

Thank you, Vance

Left click your mouse and drag it over the text you want to highlight.
Then right-click your mouse on the highlighted area and when the menu box pops up, click 'Copy'.
Then paste it in your new post.

Thank you, that is very exciting! I never learned that and as you can see I was able to get it to work. I suspect that I am one of the last to learn this, I am often behind in the learning curve when it comes to computers.

Thank you, Vance

Hey Vance, you can take it one step farther. After you paste , highlight it again and look up just above your text box and find yellow square ballon. click on it and you get this:

Thank you Pete, that did not work for me. I do not seem to have a yellow ballon.

The administrator probably should add a help section to the forum which address's the issues newbe's have such as quoting, adding pics or videos, and how to just generally use the forum it would make it much more user friendly.

Says the owner of a computer software company... :violin:

Hello Udi,

I realize it may seem incongruent.

I started Santa Maria Software in 1988 because I couldn’t manage the software that was available to run my motorcycle store. I can’t type, can’t spell and am dyslectic. I think in a nonlinear way that makes programmers crazy. I get in a hurry when I want to answer a question and going through menus has no allure for me.

The pain of paying my programmer to write custom software became too great and I decided to share it with my friends.

I have avoided becoming a computer enthusiast in order to relate to my customers, most of whom are not computer enthusiasts.

The people who work for me find humor in exploring and exposing my computer ignorance.

We went from DOS to Windows about three years late and on the third attempt.

In my defense I can make a sale on my system in 4 seconds and it takes 16 seconds on my competitors. In other words theirs is four times as complicated. I can train people in two days and it takes two weeks on my competitor’s software. I have 1 support person for each 100 users and wait time is usually negligible my competitor has 1 for 16 and two days wait for help is not unusual.

When I lost everything of value the software company was the only thing left because it had no value. I am not educated so employment is not a viable option. It has worked out.

Thank you, Vance

Vance,
Whats this not educated?? Looks to me like you have earned a PhD in the school of life! Noticed you fly a Givens Predator--believe one of them went down near Findlay Ohio recently. May have been using the new RotaMax which is built near there. Pilot ok.

Just playing Vance.

Hello Mr. Beaty,

I don’t recall quoting Robert Burns.

I am a capitalist and not aligned with his socialist perspective.

I suspect that once again your humor has eluded me.

Thank you, Vance

Hello Walt,

Thank you for the kind words.

The lifes experience of going from nothing to a great deal and back to nothing would not read well on a resume. I feel that this limits my opportunity for employment.

To my knowledge I have the only “Givens Predator” and I have not flown in Ohio lately. It is likely not my Givens Predator that has had a collision with terrain.

Thank you, Vance

But Vance, I have you in black and white quoting Robert Burns. One of life’s mysteries, I suppose.
