As some know I have been in contact with Anthony Croenlein of Phoenix Rotor Craft.
I first talked to Anthony back before he bought out Neal Carne's Company Rotorhawk.
It was during a phone Call that Anthony had called me about my Falcon Gyroplane I had for sale, but had already sold at the time. that I mentioned About Neal Carnes had offered to sell me his Company, well as most know I can barely afford a gyro. much less the Company.
I few months later I get a call from Anthony again and low and behold, he had bought the company and on top of that even bought the prototype and rights to the Nolan Brothers Coaxial helicopter.
Anyway,as some may know Rotorhawk extruded blades and Falcon kits have been sold though Vortech online. and they also sell Tail rotor blades.
Well in my talks to a guy that has a nice flying helicom Commuter 2B,he told me the Commuter needed lighter tail rotor blades,so in my search for a lighter TR blades,I called Anthony to ask about his blades,He told me he had a pile of them and really did not plan to push the sale of them and would gladly give me a set.
well as you know the saying, if it is free it is for me.
I finely made a Trip to his place and spent a good part of the day there. the Tail rotor blades he had were a bit to short for my use, but while looking around he showed me a section of the main blade the Nolan Coaxial machine used. this was an flat airfoil blade with a 4.5" chord and he had a few sections about 3 foot long. looked like cut off sections, Anyway Anthony hooked me up, and I do plan to test these on my Commuter H-1B.
Anthony has 2 large crates of Extruded blades ready to sell and a pile of hub bars and other Rotorhead components ready to assemble and sell.
Anthony reported ,he has sold several Sparrow kits and in fact had one on the shop floor being assembled.
my plan was to do an interview for youtube of Anthony, but he is a bit camera shy, so at the Last minute I set up my tripod and did just a little Video of my self and a walk around in his shop. I did catch him walking to the John. so you do get to see the man. and no I did not follow him into the john..
anyway, Anthony has some stuff in the works he showed me that I am not allowed to talk about just yet, but trust me this man has some stuff in the works and , if it comes about as planned all I can say is I want to be a demo pilot. now to get legal to fly.
Anyway I found Anthony as a very nice guy that is working hard to make his Business grow and provide quality parts for the Gyro and Coaxial helicopter community. He also wanted me to mention that if you need just a one off part machined or frame parts welded, he is glad to do the service.
his shop is right beside the local airport and we even talked about a possible PRA fly-in and open house some time. and yes, he is a PRA member so we need to support our local vendors.
I am excited to see my favorite gyroplane design now being produced right here in N.C. and look forward to seeing what come out of Phoenix Rotor craft.
here is the Video I made and posted on you tube and some pics of my visit.
