My best Mentone yet

Had so much fun each day I dont know where to start.
After a nice quick 121 mile flight...I landed right when the breakfast bunch was going for breakfast. I was starved and joined in. Later at Mentone, Chopper Town grew larger each day till on Friday it peaked out with two R44's , 4 Helicycles, 2 which flew in from Ohio and Indianas own Todd Sanderson, a Brantly, a Mosquito, Johns MH1, and probably missed a couple that I missed while I was off somewheres. I ended up flying over 10 hours and flew home Sunday morning after waiting for some skid to disappear. It was hot but so was the fun. Looking forward to our 51st convention already. Thanks everyone that attended for adding each your own special treat to the mix. Stan |
I agree with you Stan, I had a great time.
It has been years since I attended Bensen Days & this was my first trip to Mentone. It was good meeting new folks & seeing old friends. |

some more pics- John Rountree and Jane Feldman going up for a ride in Eds R44. Todd Sanderson taking up John Higgenbothams generous offer to both he and myself to hover his MH1.
Had a total of 4 Helicycles there on Friday. Todd Sandersons, Joe Loxtercamps, Mark Whistlers and mine. Lots of turbines marking their spot in the grass on the west side. Stan |

Mentone was my first and not my last by far. It was by far the biggest event I have ever attended. Even with all the trouble I had getting there, than of all things my ground handling wheels failed. I had no ideal what I was going to do at that point, I was ready to load back up and go home. Than the support I got was unreal, I'm not use to people stepping up and helping me out like they did. I had no ideal how I was going to get my helicopter out of that hanger without my ground wheels. Then the wonderful Jane Feldman steeped up and sent me to Craig's welding shop. They had me fixed up by the end of the day. Jane you are awesome and I wish I could give you another hug thank you so much. So I was able to finish putting the helicopter together that night and fly the next morning. It was nice meeting all the people and I wish I could have spent more time with all of you. Looking forward to going some where else with the MH-1 just wonder where??????????????? |

Whenever Ed flew by at speed, it seemed that not only the ground rumbled, but the AIR also! Impressive power in that R-44. Hearing that great bird roaring by was my alarm clock one morning! |
kevin, hanging out with stan and john ment early starts! dawn patrol was the way they operated. why waste daylight. saturday was my day to head east. that might of been the earliest wake up call. glad you enjoyed it. http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/1023/imageebe.jpg
