  • I want to, but I started a new job so I gotta build up some vacation time and that wont start til this fall
I have about 12 hours with Steve McGowan in Macon, GA in his 2 place parson. It is a 3 hour trip for me. But now I am at the point that I need to practice in my aircraft to get used to how it will act and fly. Hoping this year to finish up to start flying. I would say that I thought it was going to be easy to fly but, it has been years since I was in the helicopters i use to work on in the Army and they don't fly the same either. Lots of fun learning.....
These are Sports Copter blades of the first generation of using of bonding the aluminum skin to the core material with some kind of epoxy ...it requires them to cook the rotors in a high tech computer controlled oven.

Did you teach your self how to fly or did you take lessons or a little of both? I went up on a demo ride with Jim Vanek but I soon learned that he trains his customers. I'm a second hand buyer of a Vortex gyro but I don't know if that is going to carry any weight with him. CFI qualified instructors are hard to find! There are some but most do not have trainers. Anyway I'd be interested in how you got your flying skills.
I would like to know myself! The Owner pasted away about a year ago and his widow does not know what happened. It looks like in was damaged during transport. They probably dropped the rotor taking it down for a trailer ride. It will probably fly...but I know of another set that I'll pick up. I'll used these for runway practice...
i'm worried about the build. It looks like this is your first gyro. Is this strictly by a set of plans? Or did you do some improvising? The reason I ask is that the folding mast and collapsable pushtubes are not a straight-forward, stock build. THese are such a critical part of your safety, I want to be sure you know exactly what you are doing on this portion of the project, and it is adequately beefy and up to the task.
Chris I just got the sullution to my pedle problem and will have my blades next month so I will have both of these aircraft completed real soon and will be posting new pics hopefully this next week. Just so you know I have redesigned the bumblebee to be more modern and will be dinamiclly stable more than it was originally. I plan to call it the wasp and will be inttended as a starter gyro UL complete ready to fly for under 10K
