  • I taught myself,,,back in 1984,,,,I did have a few roll-overs,,,and subsequent blade, damage,,,,BUT,,,,I am still at it, still flying,,,and feel comfortable with the way I did it.
I know of others that took training ,,,several,,,and after it was all said and done,,,,,most if not all had roll-overs,,,blade strikes amd subsequent machine damages,,,so,,,what's the difference? In my opinion ,,,,,none!
Go by what you feel is right for you,,,,If you want training,,,get it,,,if not ,,,don't!
I am another newbee...sorta.. I built and flew a Bensen with a 72 Mac about 30 years ago. I put the seat tank and alum wheels on only because it looked good.. Bill Parsons told me one day that the engine would quit when I needed it the most... I sold it shortly after that.. Bill was a great guy and we were friends till the end..
Now I want to get back into Gyro's and am learning everything I can to be safe.
I was stupid and taught myself to fly..(had fixed wing time) but I logged about 50 hours..
Any thoughts please let me know...
