I have one of the older EIS on my Dominator. I'm having a problem with the tach on the EIS cutting out above 2500 RPM. Has anyone had this problem and know how to remedy it?

Call Grand Rapids Technologies at (616) 583-8000. They are very helpful and very interested in their product working correctly. I have found that they will always go the extra mile to help anyone who has a problem with their products.

Thats also been my experience with Grand Rapids. I had a couple different issues when I was first setting mine up. They were great on the phone and helped troubleshoot my problem which turned out to be a bad coil on the engine.

I just got off the phone with Grand Rapids Technologies. Very nice folks. The older models of the EIS (with the 2 9-pin connectors in back) require a 10K Ohm resistor in line between the tach output from the engine and the EIS. The new EIS (with single 25-pin connector) has the resistor built in.
They also said that if you have an older unit, you can trade it in for a new one for $149. Good deal.
