Minus the drive apparatus (transmission), you should theoretically be able to adapt a light helo 2-rotor blade adjustable collective head to a gyro, right?

I am looking at installing something like the above system on a version of the Little Wing. Bottom Line: I want to pre-rotate to about 600 rpm flat pitch, and then perform a jump take-off.

I am a helo pilot, and I would like a *little* collective authority on touchdown rolls to cushion landings with collective instead of a flare, and in an emergency situation, cushioning a 0-ground roll auto might be required.

You would think that someone other than Pitcairn would have come up with a collective adjustment, especially a lightweight version for a gyro. Aside from the gyrrhino, I know of no other collective/ jump start ability.

Anyone think a Bell/Schweizer/Robinson control head would be feasible for gyro operations?

Please respond with ideas for collective pitch control that won't ruin the bank, won't require a driveshaft, and is relatively lightweight....

Thanks

Spencer,
Get in touch with Virgil Jones of Magnolia, Arkansas.
He mounted a Schweizer or J2 rotor system to a aircraft frame. I know its a 3 blade system.

You guys are the best!!!

I am about ready to jump in with both feet and make an offer on Joe Terminella's "JT-2" gyro frame. He has an RFD single bearing gymbal head mounted right now, and is offering 27' DW's for a 1000 extra with the airframe.

This info is PERFECT - thanks again!!!!

Now to find out autorotational characteristics for tractor gyros with about 1.4 disc loading (800lb gyro all up with pilot on 27' rotors)
