I volunteered at Mentone to call as many X-PRA members as possible and ask what there main reason for non-renewal was....and to very briefly go over how important the PRA is to our gyro community.
The list was sent to me in a format that I could not download. Todd Powell kindly sent it back to me in a form that this computer dummy could decipher.
Anyway...I have a list for each state with phone numbers, names and addesses. I am contacting several but never realized how many there would be to call.
Any volunteers want to step up and help me delegate some of this task? I could sent the whole list to anyone that wants it...if they would kindly just pick one state and call as many as possible. I am personally working on my home state of Illinois.
I feel that the more we call ....and the sooner....that we may get some renewals out of this....and maybe a lot.
Its important I feel to not come across as a telemarketer...but let them have their say what their main reason for non-renewal was. Then a simple pitch for the PRA could end the call and maybe have some new renewals.:)
Thanks for any requests for this list...and just leave me your e-mail addess and I will attach a pdf. file and send it.

rgraffeo,
I would check into the laws concerning the Louisiana No Call List.
If your calling on behalf of the PRA to solicit membership sales and you contact someone that is on this list it could cost someone $10,000.00 per instance.
I would at least run this by a board member or two to see what they think about soliciting memberships using the PRA name.
I'm sure they don't mind but at least ask em about the (Louisiana No Call List) and get their take on the issue.
Other states might have this kinda law on the books as well.

Mark,
Something to think about, wonder if I just called to chat.
I made connection with several guys by calling their phone number that was listed in the magazine. Some of them attended our chapter events after.

Ron, while cleaning the grass clumps from his teeth and from between his toes, graciously volunteered:
"I will try to help with some of the carolinas."
Ron, why don't you just contact all your friends.....he might not be busy tonight.:D :D :D

Mark, the federal no-call list, and most states, exempt three groups from the law:
(1) Charities,
(2) Surveys, and, of course...
(3) Political campaigns.
If I understand correctly, PRA cannot be considered a charity, but the activity Stan has described is certainly a survey.
Besides - These people all volunteered their phone numbers and created a relationship with PRA at the time they were members.
There's no issue here with no-call lists.

Thanks everyone that has sent their e-mails so far. I have sent the list to each one of you. Please let me know if it didnt get to you.
Also...I am taking a poll as far as various reasons for non renewing.....such as....cost too much.....I am interested in mountain climbing ....etc...
This way we can collect all our notes later and see not only if we can gain some members...but also try to prevent the loss of any more.
Thanks again.....and if anyone else wants the list..just send me your e-mail either here or privately to me at strbldr@yahoo.com

I'll take the state of Arizona - you can E-Mail me the list at : mls211@qwest.net
If I get their addresses I'll follow up with a SASE and renewal form already filled out --now hows that for doing something for the PRA --of course I'll also include a form for our chapter-- maybe I can generate a couple of new members---

When you guys call these people who are no longer members, what are you going to ask them? What is going to be your sales pitch for rejoining the PRA? Especially to people who were just curious about gyroplanes or kit helicopters and decided they will never build or fly one?

Ron Called one last night. He had a friend that flew a cessna which the friend crashed coming back from an annual. He thought that he would like gyros. Talked a long time with him. Very nice person who live about 45 miles from me. I think he can be brought back into the foul. By the way he stressed the PRA magazine as why he had joined to begin with.

I really dont mind helping but this is too much -- I can BARELY READ the list ( in fact I cant make it all out)-- a differtent format would be better and I only asked for AZ not the entire list --give me a break!! Send me the AZ list only or forget it!!

Mike, it is in Abobe Reader format. There should be a button on the top of the screen to enlarge the view making it very easy to read. Scroll down to AZ and just work that part of the list.

Mike; I cant break the list down by states....without a bunch of unneccesary work.. Its just simpler to have sent you the whole list and you can take Arizona as you requested. I wasnt meaning to have you take on all 50 states....give me a break.....:D

Stan, After trying to contact the nonrenwals on the list it seems most don't have the same phone # they originally igned up with. I have only been able to talk to 4 out of the 49 Arizona folks on the list. All 4 contacted had simmilar repors that they just forgot or did not take time rejoin. None so far had anything negative as their reason for non-renewal and all said they would rejoin. Is there a way to have the PRA followup to assist in getting them renewed? Maybe a letter with a stamped envelope and some words of encouragement. I just feel like I did not finish the job at hand leaving them on their own to renew and not signing them up at contact. I'll post my finding to the poll of questions I asked each after contacting a few more in hopes it will be of help to the PRA
