Can someone tell me or direct me to a web site that discusses propeller
performance. I am looking to find out the differences between 2-3-4 and
even 5 blades props. Advantages and disadvantages of each. A little
propeller theory would greatly help. thanks, jon

Basicaly the most efficient prop is a single blades prop, followed by a 2, then 3, ect....
The other area of efficiency relates to prop dia. The larger the dia the more efficient, as long as the tips stay sub sonic.
Large diameter creates a few problems though, for one the airframe, ground clearnace, rotor clearance may limit the diameter to some extent. So this may give you a fixed diameter, with excess power available from the engine.
This leave you with a couple of choices, either increase the chord, or add another blade. So you do your figures, and see whether the larger chord or the extra blade gives the best performance.
There is a rule of thumb for the amount you can reduce the prop diameter by adding an extra blade, but Ill have to find it.
Basically all 3,4,5,6 bladed props are a compromise by the deisinger, sacrifising efficiency, in exchange for a smaller dia prop.
Hope this helps.
