Can I check the impedance of a headset's mike using an Ohm meter on the cable plug??

No. It is impedance, not resistance. Recommend you check for manufacturer's website and download datasheet for the mic. If no datasheet the impedance for the mic should at least be there!

Or, post manufacturer and part number.

Tim, bring everything to Mentone. You can try other peoples helmets with you set up and see how they work. When you find one that works then call that company and have them convert your non-working helmet.

I went thru this with two older type comtronics helmets. When I switched to the RAD intercom the impedance was wrong on the mic's. Other aircraft could not hear me. Although helmet to helmet we could talk fine. Anyway sent the two helmets into RAD he changed out the mic's and all is well now.

I really like the people at RAD. Tim seems to go out of his way to provide help.

Be advised don't try to call during Oshkosh. Cause they are there.

Here's their web site. You can find their number there;

Seems when ever I tried to call Comtronics for help I could never reach a live person. Thats why I gave up on their intercom and helmets.
