I have just finished, From Autogiro to Gyroplane by Bruce Charnov.

I didn't want to spend $50 for a book without checking it out first, so I requested it through interlibrary loan. Got it in about a weeks time.

What a fantastic Book!!

It gives a great historical perspective, along with the personalities involved.
Its incredible how much potential the humble gyro had in the past. It's amazing how close it came to extinction. I came away with a sense of awe and of hope for the future.

We have to band together to promote the potencial of Gyrocraft. There is no doubt that we have been entrusted with the charge of moving Gyrocraft forward into the future.

BTW, I think its worth the $50 bucks.

Bill,

I read the book also and I can not voice high enough praise for it.

I hope the major avaition catalogs start carrying it. I suppose it is too much to hope for a paperback version.

Thanks guys - amazing things have happened since the book came out - like the project engineer on the Skyway Engineering AC-35 Autogiro of 1961-66 sending me unpublished photos, engineering drawings and movies of this otherwise unknown American autogiro project. Also, I am working with documentary film makers to do a pbs-type doc from the book. More on this later. Bruce Charnov

I'm in the process of reading it now. Fantastic! Another good book is "Autogiro The Story of the Windmill Plane" written by one of the early autogiro pilots, George Townson.
