I received this pic by email a few days ago and thought you guys might like to see it.
It was apparently taken in April this year and shows Wing Commander Wallis celebrating his 90 birthday by taking his 90 year old friend for a flight.
Must be the oldest gyro pilot with a current licence.

Actually, John Miller turned 100 in December, and at the time of the Hofstra symposium, he was not only still flying in his Bonanza with a current medical, but still an active CFI in fixed-wing.
I do not believe he's flown a gyro in many years, so even though he no doubt still holds a current certificate for gyros, Ken Wallis is probably the oldest pilot currently flying them.
Wow, I have to show that to my wife. Anything I can do to make her feel that gyro's are safe helps my cause... ;-)

Coda
The only thing my wife says when she walks out to my shop is "Thom It sure looks dangerous to me".
People who don't understand the workings of a non powered rotor will not ever.
My wife says "The smallest A/C I want to go in is a commercial Jet"
By the way I have a pic as a screensaver from gyropilot.com of Commander Wallis

Hello Thom.
Buy a Learjet for Mrs Francis. That way you will have lots of time to fly your RAF while shes on the world trip.
The forum is a good place to get ideas.
Best Wishes.

Great picture of Ken Wallis. He is something else and deserves all the flying he can get.

Like CADO mention this may help in my wife buy into the experience of Gyro flying.
She recently bought me a golf membership in the resort were we live.......playing dirty.

That's the kind of bedpan I want to be using at 90.
Has the thought occured to anyone that those two guys could be sitting in the nursing home with a projected image in the background- sort of a Star trek "holodeck" for seniors. I mean, we didn't really land on the Moon according to some people. Wallis flying a gyro at 90 seems equally improbable. I wonder if he leaves his blinker on.
I love that smile on his face though. You can't fake that kind of joy.
