I really enjoyed my trip down to Bensen Days, and I plan to go back next year. It was great to see the folks down there, and meet the guys on the forum. The flying was fun even with the wicked crosswinds.

And I got to do the Saturday morning wakeup flight beforethe fog set in. I was going to pull my machine next to Ron's tent, and light off my Mac right next to his window...but I couldn't bring myself to do it! :)

Everyone was really nice, and I got to see a bunch of great looking gyros.

Anyway here's a couple more pics for the collection.

He was camped next to Mike Morgan and myself.

Mike Morgan and myself catching a little shade at our campsite. I am starting to get a little 'racoon effect' in this picture. Not as bad as Tim O'Connor, but enough that David Seace stopped his gyro on the ramp to point it out to me!

I got to visit with Chuck Beaty a few times, and I also got to meet Raghu on Saturday.

Here is a shot of Terry Eilands converted RAF coming back to the ramp. I got to ride with Terry last December in Lakeland, and he is a real gent.

Here is a shot of the Mosquito XE helicopter. This is the upgraded version of the heli that was in the recent Kitplanes magazine. Same drivetrain and rotor, but mounted on a composite fuselage. They fired it off Saturday afternoon, and hovered it and flew it over the field on the north side.

Was that enough proof for you that it is an airworthy chopper?

Chris,

It seemed to hover well, and they were able to get into translational flight over the north end of the field. So it seems to be able to do what it is supposed to do.

The drivetrain and rotor system is the same as the ultralight, so they are starting with a known set of components. I guess it will take some time to shake out the bugs. I am unfamiliar with the Zanzottera MZ202 engine, or helicopter drivetrains in general though, so I can't comment on the airworthiness.

Here is a shot of my Bensen parked next to Ernie's site after trying out a set of Dragon Wings. Mike Boyette was telling people that "this is what a Dominator looks like before fertilizing it with $100 bills". :)
