Russian Fly-In: we made it happen

I was rare visiting this forum last two weeks due to beeing extremely busy preparing first for last few years all-Russian fly-in which took place 120 km NE from Moscow this weekend.
It was my first experience in preparing and managing such event but fortunately everything went well.
26 aircrafts, 160+ participants, visitors... well, I don't know how many...
Our club showed only one gyro - new Twist-912S - at this fly-in but this bird worked hard making ca. 15 hours flight time (ca. 70 flights) in 4 days including 100 km cross-countries from club base to fly-in and back. It was amazing :p

We even had one more rotaryforum member at this fly-in - Allan from Estonia (hey, Allan, we're waiting for your photos!) who came with his friend to try gyro for the first time.

Very well done. Must be lots of fun and great feeling.

Love your Twist-912 S (mil) I got a large poster pin up for my office, the picture of your first taxi.

Pushing our mil guys for a similar gyro. Will you hand over yours after trials.

It was really a nice weekend. You made a good work, organizing that fly-in, and I know it’s not easy in Russia. For me was the biggest thing flying first time with gyrocopter and even in back seat it was COOL. Now I know, what you guys are talking here.

There is nothing different than our fly-ins other than a big pond and in the first photo of the tandem trainer it looks like it could be Dave Seace if it was yellow, Great looking Time.

The main difference is that there was no fly-ins here at all for last few years :) Second is that...well, I'm aware that it's hard to understand for most of US residents: we still have no workable federal regulations for general aviation so actually most of this fly-in was, say, not very correct from the point of law :eek:

question the helmet you are using seems to have an antenna? what Brand is it.

Also in the hydraulic prerotor. the reservouir of oil you have it up in the head or down?

These helmets are Peltor LiteCom II with 433 MHz radio in them - nice device for training. I've described it somewhere in early thread last winter.

As for hydraulic: tank is above hoses. I believe this is necessary so liquid can be added from it to the system. This also helps to make liquid air-free before it enter the pump.

if you can send some pic . could help. I am redesigning mine. I am going to use braieded teflon lines that weight alot less. also Instead of 1 soild line from lower pump to upper pump. I am going from pump to a manifold and from manifold to rotor head. this alow stright lines on the back of my rotor head. and reduce the pull that the full hoses create in the rotor head.

Two reasons, Ken. Second is that both our SHs are 1000+ miles far from the fly-in site now. First is that I'm not that stupid to let them fly at the fly-in until the Terry's crash is at least discussed by kit's manufacturer with at least dealers. Seriously.
