Dose anyone know where I can get a dual analog CHT instrument for the Rotax 912S engine?
The 912S requires a 0 to 300F reading and has VDO sender units.
Thanks.

I've checked out the leads and surfed the web with no luck. I guess there just is not a dual CHT available with the 0 - 300 degree temperature range that works with the 912S engine senders.
Seems a shame to only use one of the two sensors that come on the engine, but I don't want two separate gauges - no room on the panel. A switch for the two senders to a single gauge is also not a great solution.
If any one finds a dual gauge for the 912S, please let me know.

Ken,
I've been meaning to ask someone who has a 912...isn't CHT redundant when you have a water temp gauge? Assuming the water temp and EGT are OK and the CHT is high, what are you supposed to do about it?

ken if I dont remember wrong. you can order a specialset up from aircraft spruce. But check with the westach guys. they have help me in the pas with some special config. www.westach.com
We have instruments for land, sea and air vehicle applications. If you are looking for more information in less room we have the original "quads" and "duals" in virtually any configuration. At our Catalog Site, you will find most everything for selecting, installing and using your instruments. You may view and print catalog pages as you choose.
Custom Instruments:
If you need it, we can build it. In addition to Westach private label instruments and gauges, Westberg Mfg. Inc. can custom engineer instruments for your specific applications. Custom logos and dials are also available.

Ken,
Rotax doesn't expect you to use both connectors on cyclinders 2 & 3. They give you the option of which cyclinder to monitor based upon whether you're using the engine to push or pull. In a pusher configuration, cyclinder 3 will be the hottest and therefore this cyclinder should be where your connector for the sensor for the CHT goes. The cyclinders, themselves, are aircooled and the heads are water cooled; you are, in reality, monitoring the temp. of the surrounding metal of the head with this sensor.
Paul, you are correct, that the CHT and Water Temp. gauge, as far as the Rotax 912 or 914 are concerned, are synonymous.

Thanks for the help.
Paul, on my new 912ULS there is no water temp (sender or in the manual), only the two CHT senders (mounted in the casting of two of the heads which are water cooled). Perhaps the older 912s had water temp gauges, but not the new ones.
I agree that only one could be used, but it seems a shame to have the second sender mounted and not hook up something to it.

Don't listen to them, Ken II. Put in another gauge. One can never have too many gauges. Even if they're not hooked up, they look impressive.
