Hey all,

I had to be in Little Rock AR for work, so I stopped in to see Ron Menzie in Searcy, just about 45 min from Little Rock. Ron has a first rate set up, and the Searcy Airport is not only first rate, but also easy to find. I was able to get 2 hours of dual with Ron, and I loved every minute of it. Just look at Ron's "new" Gyro. :)

Ron's machine flew great before! How does he like it now? Hey that's the same bench we've been using to get in & out of my new machine! I'm sure that Ron's craftsmanship was first class as always! How is Ron & his little dog?

Hey Chris,

Ron and the dog are good, Ron says that he is very pleased with the AAI modification. I noticed that it was very stable, with no tendency to deviate from S/L with out input. I have only flown 1 RAF with out the AAI upgrade and it was back in 96, but I do remember that it was quite sensitive to inputs. The stool is very handy for getting in and out. I teased Ron about putting a big 4X4 chrome step on the side :)

I'm building a step to get into mine, should be just the ticket to get in. But I have no door to climb through, just straight up & sit back.

Did they finish the improvements to his airport? New runway?

Yes, and they are still doing more. We are lucky to get the weeds cut.

Ron's machine -- it was a shock to see it in AAI-mode! But a pleasant one. It looks from here like he bonded the windscreen in, was this also a change? I remember seeing him pretty interested in how Tom Monard did his, but I dunno if it was because he wanted to imitate it, or if he had already done something similar. It just looks better than the rivets.

cheers

Hey Kevin,

I'm not sure how he did it, and I didn't ask, but it does look very sharp.
