can anyone that knows about plastics tell me if these will work for carrying 100 octane LL fuel.
it is 125 gallon polyethylene.

Anything over 118 gallons requires all sorts of placarding & a CDL, you probably want something smaller. And having had a bunch of experience with that particular type tank, no way I'd put fuel in one.
Back in my ag days we switched to tanks in the 100 gallon range, wasn't worth the hassle to keep out previous 150-200 gallon ones.

I'm no expert, but Amazon does sell that type container for fuel;

There are several different types of polyethylene. So I'm not sure if the tank you want would be suitable.

Here is some info.
Water and holding tanks are made from linear polyethylene, and don't
have to meet any standards. Fuel tanks, otoh, must be made
of cross-linked poly, and to very strict standards. For that reason,
few companies who make water and holding tanks also make fuel tanks.
==========
Polyethylene, the plastic employed for the production of fuel tanks, has the disadvantage of being relatively permeable to fuel; this undesirable property leads to leakage to the extent of about 20 grams per day from an average fuel tank.
======
HDPE (polyethylene) is accepted for storage of gasoline, kero, and the like.
It must however be fluorinated. The process "seals" the surface that comes
into contact with the product being stored.
=========
There are some Federal Regs regarding the filling, transportation, and
storage of any fuel in any containers. One being the color. Red for gas,
blue for diesel is all I can think of. Here in Virginia, many chain
convenience stores won't turn on the pump if they see someone trying to
put gas in a blue plastic container or diesel in a red.
========
Fuel tanks have to be cross linked polyethylene
=======
Loctite have a product called Black Max 280 or 480, which the
instructions with my seat recommended as the only stuff for polyethylene. It
looks like black super glue and will seal as well as stick. Clean the
material with Prepsol first. The material doesn't have to be polyethylene
for Black Max to stick it either.
Watch the rubber in the washers and maybe consider another material,
more robust and fuel proof. Make sure the washers are brass too, as
dissimilar metal corrosion runs rampant if tanks are confined.

We just had some made locally that would fit nicely in our nurse trucks from welded aluminum. They had a bung for attaching a pump, plus a filler that could be locked & a vent - can't remember the exact cost but it wasn't too much, I was working for a real cheap guy at the time :)

Brett I to have had a aluminum tank made up 90 gal. My problem is that for a time I had slag from the weld breaking loose in the tank. I think I have it cleaned up now but be sure you use a filter.

You might try a saddle tank from an 18 wheeler. Many are alum. and can be found in wrecking yards.

The tank is the small stuff.. It's gonna be a fortune to fill the thing.
I usually go thru about 200+ gal ata fly-in with the Black..The SH isn't that thirsty but still either one is X-pensive..

We used to use 55 galleon drums with a hand crank. I was a little concerned about falling asleep while driving, 110 galleons of gas would make a really big explosion. We would carry the nitro in 30 galleon drums.
If you think gas is bad, you should try buying nitro, and it has a short shelf life, so if you break your engine early, you had better sell it to someone who hasn’t broken yet.
Thank you, Vance

??? where are you going to be flying where you can't get fuel from the airport?

If it means the difference between burning aviation gas and burning auto gas, the ability to bring your own could pay for the tank pretty quickly.
Tim H., I like your thinking on the sign!

With the price of fuel the sign could also attract thieves.:D
