While I am not in Wisconsin, I live about a half hour drive from it. I am about 75 miles south of Madison. John M

No, I'm in Texas. Just wanting to get some info on flying, experiences, and building of different types of gyros. Can you get parts for the Mc and what do you generally think of the Mc? How does it compare with other engines you have flown? Sorry for so many questions.

Pwongkit,
Over the years I have known of at least 50 gyros in Wisc. I think there is a 'Bee being built in Port Washington and one in Appleton. I knew of several gyros in the Madison area, Janesville area, Milwaukee area, Sturgeon Bay, Ripon. There is a group of RAF owners that get together in Burlington every year. Check the PRA magazine members issue and make a few calls, there are more gyros around than you think. My son flew in our company Jet Ranger to film scenes for the Amityville Horror II around Lake Geneva, WI. they based out of a small grass strip. In the hangar was a neglected Bensen style gyro with a Rotax that was for sale.

I thought I could get answers using this forum, saves calling. I know there are many people flying Bensens, I'm leaning toward a CLT gyro. Looks like either the Dominator or a gyrobee. I have a EJ22 engine that should be gone thru first before installing on anything-too big for gyrobee. That's why I was asking about the Mc. The company that produces them is in Caddo Mills, TX, not too far from me but I don't here much about them unless I ask on this forum. The Louisiana and Arkansas clubs may be using a few Mcs. I want real world advice, not just from the manufacturer.

Silas,
What do you think of the Mc? Ever had to replace, rebuild?

Gary,
If you are building a new gyro I'd go with a Rotax. My KB-2 has a Mac engine and while it runs fine the parts availability is not real good. Rotax parts and people who work on them are easier to find. If you
want to use your Subaru engine than a Dominator may be the way to go. That's my opinion anyway.

Thanks Tim. That's what I'm looking for, real world advice/experience from helpful people. I've been planning on ordering your DvD's but will definitely quit putting it off now.
Anybody have Dominator plans that they want to sell?

Gary,
I've been going down to Bensen Days for about 5 years. Couldn't afford a gyro at the time but I kept going to get as much information as I could. At first I really didn't like the looks of the Dominators with their tall legs and such. After a while they kind-of grow on you. I've never heard any of the owners complain about the way they fly. Maybe some of the others will join in and offer some more advice.
