Any suggestions on leaning the carb on a 2.2 Subaru for 6000 plus feet?

I don't know about that specific engine or gyros, but in the Piper I fly I was taught to lean the mixture until a drop in RPM or roughness is felt then richen the mixture a little.

The is no such thing as a carb on a factory 2.2 Subaru engine. It must be an aftermarket fitting - in which case we would need to know the make and model of the Carby. Most aftermarket fittings are comparatively ancient and have no alowance for mixture control.

Tom McNeilly used to make mixture control blocks for Holley carbs, and may still do so. It replaced the standard metering block.
I don't know how current this is, but here's his contact info:

I am glad to see there's a new Sparrow Hawk in the neighborhood!
Have fun, John.
