it's an annual tradition. I wrote a few of those items. I couldn't come up with a gyro one that the audience as a whole would "get".
Of course, every year some folks don't get it. This particularly happens overseas where the only significance to April 1 is that it's time to start shining up your tanks for the May Day parade.
The most successful fish job in the past had two B-747 fuselages being joined to trump the A3XX. That art hung in a lot of cubes in Seattle! My personal favourite (of the ones I have written in previous years) had Amelia Earhart's plane turning up, in the back of Kermit Weeks's hangar.

yes it was very funny. I enjoyed it. and jonathan the saying is " off the chain" not the hook. I gotta help you with your street slang.
