Just before flying across the Mississippi Sunday afternoon, I took a few pictures. Here is one I thought you might like. I admit that I was only about 250 feet AGL, but I was more than 500 feet from other life.

The Mississipi is one of the most important rivers in the world and it is beautifull.
I had the honor to visit it in several places and even spend the night on its banks

Like you, Heron and Aussie Paul have said, she is one mighty river (not quite the Nile or the Amazon, but still pretty awesome).

Do you guys, without looking it up, happen to know the name of the longest river in North America?

Chuck you were flying your gyro there to take that pic? If so I hope you was wearing a life jacket cause it looks like if that engine quit you'd be swimming! I have swam myself after being dumb enough to fly over a river with no where to land. Had a engine out and that was all she wrote, lucky for me I landed in shallow water and neither me or my machine - a Powered parachute - got hurt or sunk to the bottom to never be found again.....

Ron, I could have landed on the levy. Before I crossed the river, I went up to 3,000 feet. It's only about a mile across the river. Remember also that my camera was zoomed all the way in.
