Well I Finally did it! After startingf out the day with some crow hops, and flying down the runway a few times, Steve Mcgowan, landed his trainer and motioned me to follow him around the pattern. So I just followed Steve. Nice easy turns and back on the runway. WOW! What a feeling!
I went back up about 3 more times, staying up for around 15-20 min each time, just getting the feel for the machine. Went home early evening, tired and sunburned, A GREAT day to remember! ;D

I owe him alot more than a steak dinner. You guys should have seen his face the after he soloed. He smiled so hard all day, I thought he was gonna cause facial damage. I'm so happy that both he and I were able to solo before Steve left.
Because of our training, Scott and I have become close friends and flying bonds are some of the strongest. I really value our friendship and hope to see him again soon.

Thanks Guys! Definately a High point in my life, a day I will never forget! I'm still gettin' buterflys just thinking about it! :D
I just wanted to add, Steve is one hell of a nice guy, and one hell of a good instructor, I hope those guys in Arizona treat him good!
That John Stevens is a nice fellow too. :D

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy! Scott has really helped all of Steve's students with their gyros; I know that without Scott and Steve's help mine would not be flying now. Thanks and congratulations Scott.

Congratulations!! ;D
I have put 35 hours in the air since I soloed in the fall last year and it is still just as magic if not more so now that I can relax a little.
Are you going for a Private Lsc or just staying ultralight?
Good to see you got a picture of your solo flight.
Sue Goldsberry and Greg Spicola were on hand to take pictures on my first day.

I just wish I would have been able to help you out more Stuart.
Stuart, George, John, plus all the other guys that would show up, really a nice group of folks, Fun to hang out with, I am going to miss that alot. :(
I am going to stay ultralight for awhile, but eventually I will want to get the lisence.
If everything goes well "this time" on the new house, I will be able to fly right out of the front yard.
The picture was not planned, it was just a bonus that Jim Basile had his camera and was going to take some pics of me crow-hopping. :D
I can't wait to go flying again, I am going to do a very thorough pre-flight, and give everything a good once over check next time I get down to Macon. I need to pick up a Hobbs meter also, so I can keep track of my flight hours. The flight seemed almost magical, still hard to believe I have actually done it. So Cool!

I went back and checked my calander, and I got my first ride from Steve, at Bensen days last year, I looked at the dates on the calander and it was EXACTLY One year to the day from my first ride to my first solo! March 28-03 ride, March 28-04 solo! How cool is that?!

Scott,
Congratulations on your solo.
Steve must have been a great person to learn from. I met him at Benson Days and had a sore stomach from laughing so hard while sitting next to him at the banquet- what a character.

Yeah quite a fantanstic feeling, And yes Rob, Steve is as nice of a person as you will ever meet. He really goes out of his way to help his students, working on thier gyro's, test flying them, etc. He is just a great guy, plus he keeps training fun!
I am going to go to Macon and fly some more tomorrow, I love it! I am still staying around the airport, I have not ventured out of the airport area yet, But I will with time, and as I get more comfortable.
